That's insane.

Nintendo has a sick opportunity there and just turn into an accessories/software developer...

100% they won't capitalize because they are obsessed with controlling the entire eco-system.

Lack of availability is bumming me out, but I am not shelling out extra for that ****ty Gamestop bundle. Broke down and got Zelda for the Wii U and will wait on the Switch until the fall and see what's up with New Donk City.

Rumor has it Nintendo is doubling their output in the near future, so availability may not be an issue much longer. No word on if quality will continue to plague the machine.

Gamestop is supposed to be getting a very limited quantity next week. I checked with my local and they're getting 5 systems. They are first come first serve which is annoying. I offered to pay in full to guarantee a system but they weren't having it.

Ended up getting one off Craigslist for $380 -- only about $50 more than what it would have cost me retail after tax. Spent half the day yesterday playing Zelda and love it so far.

Very Nice get, I ended up paying 450 for my Craigslist switch

Most were listed for 500+ though so not too bummed

If you are thinking about getting a stand do NOT get the one from Orzly. I only ordered this one as the Hori one had an extended lead time as they were out of stock. This one was new and had no reviews. This stand could potentially cause heat issues with your Switch if you play it for an extended period of time as there are no holes for the air to go into the back of the Switch.

This is more of an fyi. I'm going to do a return request on Amazon and just get the Hori one instead. Here is a link to the one you should avoid.

Bunch of Switches just arrived at various GameStops today. I saw that this was advertised last week but then promptly forgot. Randomly remembered at 2pm today, panicked that I should have waited outside to get one this morning (as I did with the Wii), I call local store to see if they have any - sold out. Call the next closest store - sold out. Called third store on list - he says he has 4 left - 30 minutes and 388 bucks later, I have teh Zelda machine.

Seems like Nintendo is missing out huge by having BotW as a system-seller for the Switch, but no Switch consoles available, so people are resorting to buying it for the Wii U

That seems...very bad

Mario Odyssey holiday release will bag every one of those peeps imo.

Had my first real system hiccup today with a pretty massive frame rate lag while taking on three enemies. It froze momentarily then started right back up. Not a real issue for me by any stretch of the imagination but given how long the system and game (Zelda ldo) were in development it would be nice if this type of thing never happened.

If anyone is in a gambling mood there are some Switch Pro controllers on Amazon for a very low price but I would only want to gamble with the ones that have had some positive transactions (yes those too are probably easy to fake)...still may be worth a risk for a $26 controller + shipping $3.99 lol.

How are people doing with playing on the tablet vs. TV? I can't imagine it feeling as enjoyable to play a "big" game like Zelda on a tablet, but maybe that's just silly.

I've played a fair bit on the tablet.

Looks good when you hold it with the joy-cons attached, but I don't find the controls very comfortable in that situation.

I like the controls better when joy-cons are unattached or even better using the pro-controller. But the text is so small it makes it hard to use the tablet on kickstand unless you put your face right next to it.

In short, Zelda is much better on a big screen.

A lot of my friends are saying they're loving playing Zelda in handheld mode but I can't do it, just can't play a game like that portable. I've played maybe an hour max and that was just doing basic stuff like cooking etc. I'm also not the biggest fan of the joycons, hope they release revisions.

How are motion controls handled on switch? Do you have to use the joycons?
Nintendo Switch Quote

The pro controller has motion controls too

speaking of motion control, i did the tilt table shrine in portable mode with joycons attached. was able to beat it the conventional way after 20 or so tries. don't think i could do the shortcut without lying on the floor.

I actually played today for the first time in handheld mode, the rest of my time has been docked. No dead pixels and it still looks great but in my view Zelda should be on a big screen, especially one this big and detailed.

I'm so used to the pro controller that playing on the tablet with joy cons attached felt weird. I was in the middle of some stuff around the apartment and just wanted to handle some small stuff like talking to NPCs and random inventory management. I mean it worked perfectly but the vast majority of my game play will be on a big TV with my lazy ass lying in bed, cat on my legs.

So far I've been the opposite with about 20 hours in portable mode (no dead pixels so far knock on wood ebay purchase lol). I've got anywhere from 0-2 pro controllers coming my way from Amazon. The prices were fairly low so they could be scams to which I'll file a claim if so. If not, they were great deals....same with my 2nd AC adapter for about $20 instead of $30.

Has anyone tried the sock dock lol? It seems like a lot of people have no problems with docking and it not scratching, but a lot of others have the issue.

I just really wanted Zelda, so I picked up a second hand Wii U (Zelda edition) with box and everything + the two Zelda HD remasters for 175 euros. Will be picking up Breath of the Wild soon.

Definitely glad I didn't buy a Switch. Finding one + pro controller + screen protector and bag + Zelda game = easily 500 euros. I would pretty much only play it docked, so I'm not getting much value out of the price, at all. Plus I only want Zelda, not interested in any of the other Switch games. And I wanted a Wii U anyway.

Did the same. With smash 4 being one of the GOAT fighting games it was a no brainer for me.

Here is another controller that may give the pro controller competition...not sure if has Bluetooth or not though.
