Think you're right. Or close to right at least. I had to swap my nnid over a while back.

Actually, a quick Google of Nintendo news make it seem like maybe it's a new thing?

Also, Zelda DLC will unlock a harder mode? Is that right?

Wtf is Nintendo doing with its marketing team, other than nothing? Seems almost as confusing a rollout as the Wii U.

I'm under the impression it's a new thing since I already had a Nintendo account and a NNID and my username section was still blank and let me pick a name. I now have like 3 different names on my account page. Nintendo Account, NNID which was used for Wii U and 3DS and now this new one.

Well it looks like in portable mode you can do Bluetooth so that will be handy when at work during a lunch break or on a plane! One less cord to mess with.

It's different than your NNID so if you want a specific name, I'd do it asap. I grabbed BarnabyJones. :P
This is indeed a different thing. Just logged in with my normal nintendo ID, and there was a spot to set your User ID. So, I guess do it now while your fave option is still open. Minimum of 6 chars.

Gotta hand it to Nintendo, there is no way I would be buying this console if they hadn't delayed Zelda. (I know I could still get it for Wii U but meh I want the best version.)

If it was built for the Wii U and ported to Switch, wouldn't the Wii U be the best version?

For Twilight Princess it was built on Gamecube and ported to Wii. Gamecube is the better version. Hell, the Wii version has Link as right handed!!!!!!!

Here's the differences - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...ences-outlined

TP was technically better on Wii. Wii version had widescreen support and ran a little better. The GC version is rightfully considered better due to design decisions not because it was a technically better port. BOTW is confirmed to run better and since the Wii U version has no Wii U specific features it's safe to say the Switch version will be the best.

This is weird and not great. Hopefully it's a sync problem and can be fixed with software instead of it being a hardware problem.

It's not a software/sync problem (tho I guess it will desync eventually if the blocking continues), that's too low microwave power output to make it through flesh and 10' of air (mostly the water in the human body - ldo water absorbs microwaves).

Best case they have the headroom to crank the gain on the bluetooth and can do so quickly via a firmware update. Worst case is "It's fine, you're holding it wrong"

I guess we have our answer how they got ~20 hours usage out of the battery in such a tiny unit...

Sad thing is I don't put that worst case past Nintendo.

One of the Switch "leakers" has said it's fixed in the day one update so we'll see.

I wanted to say this too, but with the announced "hard mode" and second quest (and probably 3rd+ in 2018+), I'm likely leaning toward the Switch version as the version to own.

(haven't yet pre-ordered anything so I could still get it on the Wii U)

I guess I just automatically assumed that the version on the brand new console would be the better version, didn't give it much thought tbh. I've never played Twilight Princess on cube but I figured it was just considered better because of lack of waggle rather than anything performance wise.

nintendo specializing in designing uncomfortable controllers since the wii (gamecube wasnt great either).
zelda looks great but that console looks terrible in every aspect to me.
I had every nintendo home system till gamecube then I lost it at the wii.
Anyway Im prolly a rare occurence since wii was a monster hit (but Im pretty sure it was more for the motion aspect of the controllers than using them in more classical ways).
God bless emulators tho

Just posting to subscribe and check out impressions. Plan on getting this for BotW eventually but between Nioh, Horizon, and ME all out or due out soon probably be a while before I get around to it.

Most people that I know of only think highly of the GC controller because the Wavebird was the first really good wireless controller.

The non-Wavebird GC controller is way too small, and the C-stick and D-pad were terrible. The analog triggers were really nice though.

Um, no. That joystick would cause the most wicked thumb callouses. D-pad sucked.

Xbox 360 controller has been my favorite layout so far, though it could use some tweaking. It's what I use for PC gaming.

GameCube was great for the time, but definitely a few odd placements. Amazingly satisfying triggers, though.

PlayStation has somehow managed to have completely terrible controllers for every system.

after thinking a bit more about it Im not the target person to judge controllers I believe.
N64 controller had 1 analogue stick and the handling was perfect for my taste.
I felt that the subsequent controllers stick position were not right, pretty much cause they didnt get rid of the cross.
So the stick is not in a natural position to me.
Never got used to xbox/ps like controllers (I use xbox controller for pc which is like never) and I have no consoles since gamecube (I obv played at friends places).

on topic I just read kotaku long review and this really isnt inspiring to me.
they still need to review more after release but it seems there are massive performance drop when playing on tv,that sounds awfull. (but need to be tested more maybe it can be fixed).

I also am not a customer for handheld and mobile stuff.
I had a gameboy back in the days that pretty much stayed at home all the time cause I had no desire to play games when not at home.

That to say Im kinda disconnected by the approach and Im in no way representative of Nintendo target market.
Im just a sad old fan

ps:the n64 controller is the one I liked the most regarding to controllers with an analogue stick

holding the n64 controller in the middle always felt weird to me, the big xbox controller was perfect for my hand size
