You know I've never bothered with Minecraft. I don't really enjoy building things without directions and can't visualize things in 3 dimensional space. It's got to be super popular for good reason, though.

Love the Mario skins, and the garden gnome, not a huge fan of the Mario map pack since you only get Mario music but no Mario sounds. Kept hoping to hear the trademark jump sound when I jumped. Also kind of annoying trying to relearn what all the blocks really are.

Left joy con definitely has problems for us. There anything to do about that? I thought they released a new version of the left joycon or a software upgrade to help?

I think the common solution to this was/is to send it to Nintendo and they would refurbish it by putting some foam(?) piece inside the controller (or send you back a new joycon).

I had some connectivity issues with the left joycon and almost sent it for refurbishing, but my issues stopped once I stopped playing BoTW for ~6 hours at a time. Haven't had any issues since.

Yeah nintendos "fix" helps but doesn't solve the problem. I still think the joycons are meh and if you're playing on the tv the pro controller is a must.

Has anyone played Blaster Master Zero on hard mode? I downloaded the free DLC but can't see where to select that mode to play. I have beaten the game once and there is a save file right before the last boss. I wonder if I had to download the DLC and then beat it before it would be accessible even though I already had beaten it.

Yeah, but if you want to play multiplayer you gotta drop at least $140 or whatever, and we're already at like $700 spent to be able to play Zelda this year.

The prices are ridiculous but they can get away with it. I'm in Japan right now and they're so hard to get that every time there's a new batch you have to enter a raffle so that you can stand in line to buy one. Most western countries have stock but it's still selling like crazy.

I'm Europe, and they seem fairly readily available. Seen them just lying in stores quite a few times.

I just can't justify the price. €330 for Switch + €70 for Pro controller, essentially just for Zelda is not worth it. As, for me, all I would buy atm is Zelda.
Anyway, I bought Zelda for the Wii U, and will probably wait a few years when it's cheaper and has more good games before I buy a Switch.

Regarding the pro controller - I think many folks (including a few ITT) were surprised by how well the connected joycons (that come with the console) felt for 1-player Zelda. Assuming no connectivity issues with the left joycon of course.

I had every intention of getting a pro controller at launch but held out just to try out the joycons. Still ended up getting one but that was moreso influenced by multiplayer for Mariokart.

I much prefer the pro controller to the joycons but a) different strokes and b) since I had the pro controller early maybe I'd have gotten used to the joycons.

Preordered Arms which releases this week, the reviews I've seen so far make it seem like a blast.

Did you play the open beta? It seemed fun but really shallow. I was tempted to get it but was kind of bored after the second beta session. I would be interested in your thoughts after you've had some time with it.

I should get it this weekend. I'll put in some time with it by the end of the month and let you know. I didn't play the beta, no.

From the new patch notes for the console:

Is Cave Story worth it $29.99 yay or nay? There doesn't look like any games are coming out that intrigue me until Mario Odyssey does in October, so this may have to be a time filler.

Kinda getting irritated with this forced scarcity thing Nintendo seems to be doing with some of their items.

I don't remember older consoles like the NES or the Nintendo 64 being rare, although I wasn't ever getting one as a kid so maybe this has been a thing for their entire existence. I do remember how hard it was to get a Wii that one Christmas - I was lucky enough to snag one during a ten minute window on Amazon for list price when people were paying three to four times that on eBay - but I thought that was just an underestimation of anticipated demand. Eventually Wiis were easy enough to find.

Then the mini NES console thing happened. I did manage to get ahold of the two I wanted (one for me, one for my nephew), but only by using a website tracker and then only because I was around when one of the notifications hit my inbox. They were selling out on all sites within minutes to an hour of restock. What the ****, you clearly can see there's high demand, why not make more, or release the stocks you're holding? Rumors are that they'll do the same strategy with the mini SNES when it releases.

Today, three new amiibos related to the Legend of Zelda were released (all Link characters from MM, TP, and SS). All three were exclusive to specific retailers (Amazon, Game Stop and Best Buy). Preorders were scarce to impossible. The only one today I was able to find, and I was actually up for a couple hours past midnight so I was online at the time of release, was the SS one through Amazon, which is exclusive to Prime members. The other two can only be found right now on eBay, although one store tracker helpfully let me know they were in stock for the MM one at a Game Stop in Pennsylvania. I live in Maryland.

What's with the forced scarcity? Seriously, I get just not knowing something is going to take off and there being a shortage until production catches back up, but this is clearly a company strategy and it's pissing me off (and I generally love Nintendo as they have some of my favorite properties, including LoZ, which comprises 100% of my amiibos). Like, what is even the point? When you can find them for retail they are still normal price, so the only people reaping a huge profit off the scarcity are resellers on eBay.

I just don't understand why they are intentionally releasing so few of specific items into the market and basically forcing consumers who really want them to either spend 3-4x (if lucky) list price from a reseller or say **** it.

And I also get this is so first world problems (OMG I can't easily find the toys I want!) but it's making some of my super positive Nintendo energy very sour.
