How dare you.

I put in 2k12 the other day.

Tried to ball with Jimmer but the controls were just atrocious. The online aspect is a joke. The game would be salvagable if you could play Association with the current crop of rooks - but they're only available in online play.

The Mac 100-point game is 2k9 (a game which people still play worldwide every second of the day).

Re: NBA 2K12

C'mon. 100 points in 2k9 isn't exactly difficult. I did it at least a handful of times. Hell, in 2k7 I routinely dropped 50+ with Pat Burke.

The newer versions allow you to actually play defense, something that was sorely missing from the older games. No more fg% of 75 every game, no more dunk every possession. I loved 2k9, but it doesn't hold a candle to 2k12 in terms of realism or difficulty or control. just because you can't isomotion your way to a dunk every time doesn't mean the game is worse. it means its better. there are very very few guys who can 1 move cheese their way to victory these days, and to me thats the ultimate sign that the game is way better.

Agreed. If you want to play Street... play Street. Why would you want a sim to simulate real life less accurately?

The game is great fun. My averages are 36 ppg, 2.9 apg, 2.8 rpg, 2.8 spg, a little skewed since I became a starter only 20 games into the season and played only like 14 mpg prior.

A list of things that keep this game from absolute greatness:

Scripted runs. This is the most annoying thing in the game. Whatever your lead is in the first half, no matter how good you play defense, the CPU will always catch up by some stupid scripted "momentum"-fueled run. This includes making almost every shot, my guys leaving their 3pt shooters wide open, and general silliness all around. Sometimes I suspect this is just so they can do the "Spark of the game" (thanks for the insight, Doris! now let me go strangle a kitten aiyhahchach) nonsense after the third quarter.

If they somehow manage to fix these things (esp. the scripted stuff that makes you feel cheated), this game is the GOAT.
Update on this criticism I made earlier in the thread: I am now 50 games into my second year, overall rating of 94 and team chemistry at 99. This issue has completely disappeared, I have plenty of blowout victories, where I lead by 20 points at halftime and finish with a 30+ point differential. This would virtually never happen in my first season.

I have no idea why this has gone away: The patch, maximum team chemistry?

Currently I am enjoying this game sooo much, we (76ers) have the second best record in the NBA atm behind the Heat (38-15) after just barely inching in the 8th playoff spot in my first year with a 40-42 record. We traded away Iguodala and Holiday, and got James Harden and Abe McCarthy at the 2 and 3 position (I play PG). Awesome trades, these guys are young and hit the open shots, soo much potential.

Does anyone have an idea when I will get my contract offer (I should be a free agent after this season, right?)

Where are the roster updates? It still shows Paul on hornets. Doesn't it just update automatically online? I've seen it do updates. Rosters still don't look right though

Re: NBA 2K12

Just finished my second year, won it all with the 76ers. Stern's outfit during the trophy presentation reminded me of http://wtfismikewearing.tumblr.com. I'm rated 97, and they freaking exercised the team option, so I have to play for a third year basically for peanuts. I wanted to raise my attribute caps with these monies!

Also, we got a top draft pick again (82 overall rating @ 20 years old). Seems like there is a glitch that the picks go in alphabetical order, and the Sixers will get the top pick every year. How does that get overlooked in beta testing, and why is this not patched yet?!?! That totally screws up the balance in the league.

Re: NBA 2K12

Completed my first season of association mode with the Boston Celtics, swept the Lakers in the Finals . Pretty enjoyable game mode. One tip though, make sure you keep an eye on player contracts, in my head i had a trade lined up Jermaine O'neal and Sasha Vujacic for a decent young centre. Season ended and both players left on free agents

In to "My Player" mode now, completed around 58 games with my 6'5 PG. Was originally drafted by the Suns. Immediately after i was drafted Nash was traded for Joakim Noah. Having Noah was badly affecting my assist numbers. Loadsa of open shots missed. So i decided to request a trade, and Dallas came in for me . Spent around 10 games coming off the bench. Im now a starter, replacing Jason Kidd. Avg 7.5 pts 3 assists, and 3 rebounds a game
