Disney Shuts down Lucas Arts - Video Games

Disney has today announced that it's decided to close down LucasArts as a game studio, transitioning it into a "licensing model." This effectively means that LucasArts is dead, likely to exist as little more than a legacy name for externally developed Star Wars titles. A round of layoffs has been had as a result.

probably doesn't help that SWTOR was one of their last major releases and flopped pretty hard (for the amount of resources they sunk into it)

Huge fan of the old adventure games, hopefully since they're just licensing now there's a chance of a Double Fine Monkey Island game. 1313 looked nice and it's a shame if it's shelved but apart from that they haven't done anything that's interested me lately.

I looked at the list of games solely made by LucasArts and it's pretty much been a steaming pile for at least the last dozen years.

There was a time where LucasArts could do no wrong. All the games they made were really good. But that was a long time ago.

I'm sad that they've been closed down but that's purely for nostalgic reasons.

I guess TIE Fighter is the LDO answer but my favorite Star Wars game will always be Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.

It's like the inferior version of Batman: Arkham Asylum for Star Wars fan. Jedi force throw whammy.

I have to say I absolutely loved the multiplayer in that game. I'd play CTF all the time. You could bunnyhop across the maps in seconds, and force throw\pull people off the map. It was fun as hell. When you got bored of that you could have lightsaber duels too.

Always thought there was so much potential for an epic star wars series of games that could be SO good.. don't think it happened though..

Same for the Matrix, though I actually quite liked path of neo... (appart from the weird bit you have to jump on the diff platforms,,)
