Any idea if you can irrigate under a farm (so that you have more surface area for crops on top.

i.e.

crops
dirt
water

The water source must be either one block below the dirt block the crop sits on or at the level of the crop. So no (yours would be 2 blocks down - so it isn't possible to water a crop from underneath). I wouldn't worry about surface area. This is the most efficient way to water your crops, with regards to surface area (water irrigates up to 4 blocks away):

I guess that's not so bad because you can collect seeds/wheat from those holes as you replant regardless. Did you realize that my diagram was

Mine is a top-down view, not a cross-section.

As I said, layering water under the dirt block that a crop sits on will NOT hydrate it.

The Nether Express™ is up and running from the town portal to my portal (thanks to Peacashew for donating some glass!). Josh, I dug a tunnel to your portal and started the track on it - you just gotta throw down enough booster tracks to get it up that hill and you'll be fine. The track stops at my portal on the way from town, and you can just press the button you stop at to get going towards your portal.

Who else has portals they want hooked up? jd, did you ever build one? gypsie, where's yours at? akspartan?

I've taken a look around: spawn point, the big castle wall area (that encloses the egg picture / wood building)...

I'm interested in continuing to take a look around your creations.

Someone mentioned a desert house that they're building... Any idea the coords on that? Are there any more places I should check out (and coords please)?

I don't really have any stuff, as I haven't been building much, but I just want to walk around lol.

So I just bought this game after reading people rave about it for a year. Should I start in single player or would MP be more fun?

I made a sand quarry, but I forgot the coords.

I want to say its around 400,400 but I'm probably wrong.

There's a ton of sand fairly near spawn - two of the four directions you'll walk straight into a desert biome.

200, 500 is where I built (if you're talking about my desert house) - there's 2 quarries I've seen: if I had to guess the closer one is like 200, 750.

ps: was your quarry the one where u left the busted-ass diamond tools animal? if so thanks for the warning signs

If you do use this method try not to carry too much stuff: if you let the lava spread to create more than one obsidian block at a time, there's a good chance it'll also spread onto your feet...

Gypsie's station is up and running! It features a detector rail on the way in from town - it will push you off to the next station if you don't take out your cart within a few seconds of arrival.
