Hi, just bought the game. A friend of mine from school was showing it to me and i thought it looked like a really fun game. What should i do to get started? Right now all I've done is build some stone tools with a furnace and a chest in singleplayer.

I can put a whitelist in if you want. I just don't want it to deter new people from joining!

@ People like Dids who are sceptical about joining.

So far not a single building has been griefed. We have systems in place to lock doors and chests so only the owner can access.
It is not possible to start fires that will spread.
It is not possible to use lava to start fires that will spread.

There are a lot of safeguards in place. Maybe a whitelist would be a good idea as well though.

I can 100% say that playing with others is a thousand times better than playing alone!

I'm having a hard time staying on for more than a few minutes at a time--the connection keeps crapping out on me.

I've tried the IP listed a few posts back but it either times out or says connection rejected when I try and join.

does your screen go black and then not respond? If so go to options/ video settings and take your render distance off far.

I would play more but the server just is really laggy for me.. What can I do to prevent this?? I've set render to far and that helps for a few mins then its just crap..

This is the first server I have yet to get to bedrock yet, lol.. I end up in soooo many dungeons that I just get killed, server lag, rage quit.. I think I'm on my 4th dungeon going down one step at a time..

Weird that people are having lag problems. I upgraded to a $30/month package today and I haven't had any problems even when we have had 10 people on at once.

To be clear, I'm not skeptical about joining (I honestly never considered joining 'cause I have my own server with my own thing that I've got like 2309482390432840 hours invested in). I just think a whitelist is always a good practice.

The minecraft server I play on had to increase its RAM from 2gb to 3gb (which doubled the cost of the VPS) as it had similar problems to what you are describing.

After doing some logging, I set the top of my tree farm on fire as per usual- except that I forgot I'd just build columns of wood leading up to my walkway and that those were right next to the trees. Got to rebuild that thing again. More annoying, fire doesn't burn fences, and you had to be under the fence to build there, so that took lots of dirt scaffolding,

But in good news- I built a Food Court!

Have any of you guys checked out Terraria. It's a lot like 2D minecraft, but the focus is more on combat and the rpg side of the game. The multiplayer aspect of the game looks pretty sick. Also it looks a little bit more action packed than minecraft.
