Glad my house got griefed..Theres also people going around trying to kill you and then taking your items..

My house is destroyed, someone built into my cave, and my surrounding landscape has been tweaked alot..

I didn't get to make it to your house Ifx as I kept getting killed by skeletons..

Don't really like pvp in minecraft - mobs being on is ok, but pvp is kinda pointless imo.

As long as you don't touch anything I think an admin can roll back everything and fix everything and find out who did it, and then ban them.

Ok, so I just paid to have a server set up. $15/month. I'll let you guys know when it all gets sorted out. Should be awesome. Up 100% of the time. No LAG. No griefers. No piss off signs.

After reading about rurollin's house I dreaded going to see mine.

Not a lot was done to mine. I had 1 piece of wood block taken from an odd place, some of my windows were broken, and then someone destroyed the ground underneath the water, which flooded part of my cave.

I built my house over top of the water, and it has a ladder system that goes down through the water to the ground and then down further into my mining area. Kind of like an oil rig.

Someone broke the ground out, which made the water go into my mine and down the main descending stairs where it then leveled off and I took a different path.

I'm not doing anything until I talk to an admin later so they can fix it.

That sounds great - if you're on sites that allow transfers, I'm sure some of us will help with paying for it. I'll certainly kick in a few dollars every month.

Noone has found my "house", probably because I hid it underground with an entrance under water, but it's not really tempting to build anything on a server where you have to run to the mod to have them restore your stuff everytime you log on.

I'd much prefer to go with a 2+2 server where we can have a whitelist of who we let on so we know we can (more or less) trust our stuff to stay once it's built.

It didn't take too long once a mod got on to fix everything. He said there was 150-180 blocks of damage. I certainly didn't see that much damaged, but it was pretty cool when he fixed it, everything went back to normal in front of my eyes.

He fixed rurollin's house and rofl's house (not sure who he is on here?) He even banned people and banned someone who was online who destroyed stuff while rofl was watching him.

It's not as bad as I make it sound. It's not like someone is going in there and destroying every last piece. It's just a few things here and there, like in the regular world people are always damaging other people's properties. haha

I like the people who don't cause problems though, and it would be a pain to start over again -- eventhough I don't have much as it is. However, for someone like rofl who has the biggest friggn' mob spawner I've ever seen, it would be a problem to redo - at least for me.

But yeah, if I'm going to put more time into this I would like to have somewhere safe - but a community nonetheless. Like if we got 10-15 people on there (or whatever) and felt like we were in our own cyber-minecraft world, I'd be in. But if it's just going to be 2-3 people with no interaction then I don't know.

Plus, in this server we currently have they have a lot of cool plugins - making the night go to day instantly, shops, skill levels where it speeds up your mining for a short period of time, lotteries, etc.

I'm good for a couple bucks a month for a decent server...if I can find a method of $ transfer, that is.

The skill leveling is wicked.

Yeah I didn't know what it was until I saw the mods telling someone else.

Basically you hold the left mouse button to mine, and then hold in the right mouse button. I think you can only do it once every 4-5 minutes or so, but it basically makes you break a block instantly.

I was using it to mine some wood. I always break the bottom blocks then look straight up. I used the skill system and it blew a hole in the top of the tree like a 3x3 hole. haha I haven't tried it on stone yet.

I just got on to check some things...

Two guys were running around together. One broke the door off of the entrance to rofl's mine. When I confronted him they came after me.

I tried to go into my house so that if they killed me in there I could get them banned. Well, the door was locked and by the time I got the pw in, they killed me and took my stuff. FAIL...but Id idn't have much on me anyways.

Then they went in and destroyed some of my wood.

And then I went and caught them destroying some of rurollin's house. When I confronted them again the one guy killed me. Then I came back and he killed me again.

One of the admin was on, him and another guy killed them with their swords. I didn't have anything on me and I punched the one guy until he died since he lost everything. The one guy was trying to get up rofl's mob spawner, but couldn't make it up the ladder. And then the admin rolled back everything to fix it and banned both of them.

It was so annoying. I was to the point where I was about to tell them that I was leaving the server if they didn't get rid of them.

The admin said he would speak to the other guy about a reward. haha

This lawless world sounds like a scary place. How do I join whilst everything is being setup my end.

find the IP address above and join like any other MP way, then go to North Gate and you'll see rofl's creation.

And I want to add it's not really "lawless." You just have some punks who like to cause problems, but once an admin gets around they get banned quickly and fix everything so it's not really like there are major problems. It's a pretty cool place.

I don't know much about plugins, but it's my understanding that they are free and can be added to any server, so I don't think we have to give up any of that by going to a 2+2 controlled server.

Using Bukkit, my understanding is that it's quite easy to add mods/plugins.

I'm not sure which host spraggit has gone with, but if it's servercraft.co, I believe they set up the server exactly as you want it.

Yep, Spraggit has gone with servercraft. Still waiting to hear from them but I can get any mods etc on there. If you guys have any let me know and I will contact them.

JFC. I was down mining, found the biggest cave I've ever seen, mobs all over the place. I went down with 64 torches and ran out while I was down there trying to light up everything. I died twice. I have to leave, irl, so I go /home, and all my torches are gone, some glass is broken, holes in the side of my house where my doors are since they were locked and I see a guy leaving the area.

He plays dumb, one of the admin comes and calls him out and tells him he'll get banned if he does it again and fixes my stuff.

Seriously, it's old. I'm pretty much ready to start somewhere else where this won't be a problem.

The guys said 24 hours but usually much sooner. Set it up like 7 hours ago so should be up and running soon.

And when it is im gonna smash all your houses up.

I wanted to complete my house then start setting up paths to others and start other buildings, I'll wait to we get a server..

Found the biggest cave system in all of Minecraft.

Had like 3-4 levels to it, every time I found one way there was another way to go. I got lost for over a half hour trying to see if I could find my way out on my own.

Got over 300 coal, probably 250+ redstone, a ton of iron, a bunch of gold, 6 diamonds.

I don't know if this works everywhere as I haven't tried it on my SP account, but I found a good way to find these pockets/caves/dungeons - Mine down to wherever you want to go, probably like down to like 10-12 or so. Then hit F3. It'll bring up your coordinates, but it will also bring up a number above the monsters and you can see it through the blocks. So all you do is dig towards them. They spawn in dark places, which will be in large rooms, or at least pockets of empty space. Just prepare yourself to light up the place and fight some mobs and take over the area. You can pretty much chain together an entire cave system just by digging towards the monsters. It's a lot better than trying to dig through solid rock trying to land a lucky dig on random ores. If you find these large rooms usually there is a larger surface area to find them in open space.

Type /money

This brings up how many coins you currently have.
Then type /shoplist and it brings up things you can buy or crucially SELL!

You can sell wood for 4 coins/plank. Meaning 16 coins per wooden block.

To sell the wood just convert to planks then type /sell wood and however many you have.

You can then buy diamonds for 40 coins. By typing /buy diamond and however many you want.

Basically a way of swapping 10 wooden planks for 1 diamond. Then make diamond swords and diamond armour and kill everyone etc etc....

I briefly looked at the list earlier today and was wondering if there was a way to arbitrage it. haha

EDIT: Wow, omg, so awesome. I just sold 196 wood, bought a diamond sword and 5 diamond pick axes. It's actually cheaper to buy the item outright than to buy the gems and make the product. 2 diamonds = 80, 1 diamond sword = 72. I'm going to go cut down limber and make bank and buy a ton of diamond items. So awesome.

yea, server quickly went to hell. As soon as they started seeing more traffic, their lack of security was obvious and its now just a big cluster****.

not enough concrete protection in place (specifically about grief/PKing) so pretty much everybody is going to have damage to their stuff on a daily basis

Now everybody has figured out that 8 wood = 1 diamond. No more economy.

I just sold 1036 wood for over 4000$. Now to buy some diamond picks, shovels, axes...

Yeah, a lot of people are PvPing and stealing everybody's stuff. I watch my back every where I go and don't go out with too much on me.

It would be nice if we got the 2+2 server up and were able to get a good sized community in there, me, rollin, Belok, megloo, spraggy, rofl (who is he?), Dids, MinusEV, I know I'm forgetting some people. And then have some of these cooler plug-ins......and no griefing OR PvP!

Just create an economy and develop the environment over time.

EDIT: Bought something like 13 shovels, 20 pickaxes, 6 axes, 6 swords, all diamond armor. A bunch of people are just stockpiling diamonds. I think if you log out you start over with your money, but I'm not sure. I'm testing something right now, trying to create a tree farm, but limiting the height of the trees so you don't have to deal with having the wood going higher than you can reach from the ground.
