Cartograph is getting a bit on the old side--it hasn't been updated in a while. You might want to try Tectonicus or Cartograph G.

ye cartograph G was the one i tried, and i coudlnt find what i needed to type into the "custom" box to map it out for my server

Tectonicus is what my maps are from, I believe- it's somebody else who runs the server I'm on and sets those up.

This is what I use, too. To map my server world, I copy the folder over to the single player world directory....which for me is: C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\.minecraft\saves

ok, so ive done that. open cartograph and press render... nothnig happens. changed to world 2, pres render... nothing happens.

tried world1-5 and custom and nothing happens. any idea what im missing?

I'm not sure anything I've posted is using a texture pack, since the map tools don't use them.

I can't stand the default texture pack though. I'm shocked the game actually took off with such a gross low-fi look. Glass and water specifically are horrible.

It's a 64 bit pack so it can get slower, but it looks really, really good.

With the exception of cobblestone, I kind of dig the vanilla texture pack--I'm very fond of NES and SNES gaming though, so nostalgia undoubtedly plays a role.

I can tolerate low-fi graphics in other games, but I guess for me a big part Minecraft is about making things look pretty.

It didn't bother me as much till I installed my texture pack, and that looks so good I just can't stand the other way.

I'm still new to this and stop by the server whenever I can.. But it seems the ip is always changing..

I will need to create a skype account I guess if thats what you guys use..

It comes from creepers, and doesn't drop often.

Your best bet is to find a creeper dungeon and figure out how to farm it.

I still have yet to see a dungeon in any game. I'm not the biggest digger, but still- weird.

I can't think of the last time I've killed a Creeper and not got at least one gunpowder.

I have a zombie and a skeleton dungeon right below my primary residence.

My son and I found two spider dungeons right next to each other in one of our cave exploring sessions.

Gotta find a neat use for all this mossy cobblestone.

I hardly ever get gunpowder to drop from creepers. =/
