Haven't played in months but this series is awesome/hilarious. It's basically turned into a Minecraft movie around part 20.
This is pretty awesome, thanks - very cool how they've put a lot more effort into it than just simply make another "let's play"-series.

Are people still active in this game? I just got into it and love it.

I still play a fair amount...in an off and on fashion...coincidentally coinciding with updates.

Game is unplayable for me right now.. It crashes to a black screen every 5 minutes or so

I still try to play.. just very frustrating, and from what i've seen on the mc forums there are a lot of people with the same problem

If you have a 64-bit system, upgrade to the 64-bit version of java. You have to manually download and install it since the auto-check/upgrader will always give you the 32-bit version.

If you don't, or still have problems, try setting your view distance to 'normal' instead of 'far'.

So I've watched SeaNanner's and X's Let's Play series but I've found a cave system that's further beyond anything I knew existed in Minecraft. It literally has surface openings and reaches bedrock. Using decent spacing I've got over 250 torches in the caves and I'm finding new caverns like every 5 minutes.

It had a HUUUUGGEEEE room at the very bottom with a giant slime in it. It so cool to see one in-game (they're really rare if I understand correctly). There was this other steep, pitch black (even with torches) incline with creeper after creeper falling out of the darkness at me. I ended up giving up on that route because I couldn't see them before they were in my face.

By the way guys, I really recommend playing the game on hard mode. It's a lot more stressful/fun that way.

Also I got really pissed off at skeletons hiding in the shade [I'm based in a forest biome]. I burnt down a tree but started a forest fire that stretches for miles in every direction. Do the tree stumps ever stop burning, or can I just assume that nothing can spawn above ground anymore?

Trees will burn down to a point, then go on burning forever. If you want more trees, just clear out the burned wreckage and replant with saplings. Walla.

Right now it's very raw, but it serves as a alright distraction.
The game that spawned Portals comes to mind. Was nothing more than a final Full Sail project (iirc) and I played the **** out of it. (Nope, it was Narbacular Drop from Digipen.. )

***FIXED
Anyone else have Windows 7 and play within a browser? I keep getting the error "Windows has blocked the software because it can't identify the software". This is after I prompt it to install the activeX or w/e it is.

I tried turning off firewall, no avail.

Overheard at the office today:

"Are you going to watch _______?" (don't remember what it was, irrelevant)
"Nah, I think I'm just going to play Minecraft"

So I bought this game with my youngest son in mind months ago. He's a lego freak and I thought minecraft would be fun for him. I finally got around to putting together their computer about 2 weeks ago and spent ~ 3 hours on a Saturday playing Minecraft while all 3 of my kids watched.

They loved it.

Fast forward 2 weeks, and I think I've turned my 8 year old into a junkie.

The computers are in a loft area outside our master bedroom. In the middle of the night my sissy wife wakes me up because the dog woke her up and she hears something. The light outside our bedroom turns on. I am a heavy, heavy sleeper so I'm pretty useless, but go check it out so the lady folk can calm down.

I open the door to find my youngest son in his underoos busting minecraft at 3 in the morning.

Me: "Umm, what are you doing?"

Him: "I couldn't sleep."

Me: "It's THURSDAY and you have SCHOOL tomorrow. GO TO BED!"

What have I done? =/

Beta 1.3 out today.

http://notch.tumblr.com/post/3446675...craft-beta-1-3

Quote:
* Implemented a new lighting engine with the help of MrMessiahs (can be turned off)
* Changed the options around, added a new “Graphics options” button
* Added beds. If all players in a map sleeps in a bed during night, the game immediately skips until morning
* Added three new half-size blocks
* Added Delay/Repeater redstone dust blocks
* Added whitelisting to the server. To use, enter “whitelist <cmd>” where cmd is “on”, “off”, “add <player>”, “remove <player>”, “list” or “reload”
* New save file format, old maps need to be converted (that might take a while..)
* It’s now possible to have more than five save slots, and to rename saves
* Scrollbars in both the texture pack list, and in the map selection screen
* Replaced the Mojang splash image to reflect the new logo colors
* .. and a bunch of bug fixes and tweaks!

The bed is pretty sweet.

Make it by:

Top row empty.
Middle Row: Wool, Wool, Wool
Bottom Row: Wood, Wood, Wood

Right-click to lay down (only at night).

The screen will fade to black, come back and it's instant daylight. Takes like 5 seconds.

Pretty sweet.
