Re: Minecraft

Some minor (and seemingly pointless) griefing in and around my tower too - I'm guessing it's the same guy who used to do it on the old server

Re: Minecraft

I have downloaded Minecraft for both Mac and the PC. I have not paid for anything. On the Mac, I'm playing the full version, except I can't play online. But on the PC, it only lets me play the demo version, which has a time limit for play and no Creative mode. On my Mac, there don't appear to be any limitations except no multiplayer.

So what gives? Is there no demo version for the Mac, so it just lets me play the full version? If I were to pay so I can play unlimited on the PC, what would I get on the Mac?

BTW, I'm not complaining that I appear to have gotten the Mac version for free. I'm just wondering why they are different and if I can somehow get the PC version to run for free.

Re: Minecraft

Tired a challenge that's on Ethoslab youtube channel: make a 5 course meal. That is, craft a cooked porkchop, cooked fish, bread, mushroom stew, and cake in 30 minutes.

First time I tried it, I was an idiot and had it set to peaceful mode and couldn't make a fishing pole. Second time, I was still an idiot and didn't realize I needed iron until 28 minutes into the challenge. Third time was the charm, or so I thought. Finally found a cow, look down at my watch and it was 31 minutes. Not that it mattered anyway--I had accidentally thrown away my wheat to make room for the iron (I had made the bread and forgotten that I still needed it.)

Oh well, one more try today.

I tried this one because it seemed so much easier than the other challenge, kill a ghast in 30 minutes. But just finding an egg and a cow took the longest time for me on the last try.

Re: Minecraft

No luck on the fourth attempt. Killed two spiders the first night, thought I was set, so I went to bed. Woke up, turned out that I didn't even collect any string from them. So I couldn't make a fishing pole.

In addition, I spawned in a snowy biome and couldn't find any mushrooms until 28 minutes into the game. And I still hadn't found a red mushroom by the time the timer expired.

30 minutes only gives you one night to get the bones and string you need to succeed, so I have to remember not to end night before I get everything.

Re: Minecraft

I tried the companions challenge so many times, get a dog, a cat, a snow golem, and a iron golem in 30 minutes, its a really fun challenge.

Re: Minecraft

Finally succeeded with the food challenge. It really all depends on the map. I've tried maps where I can't find mushrooms or iron at all. The one where I succeeded, there's a red mushroom right where I spawned. Then, just wandering around trying to find brown mushrooms, I find a cave with an exposed iron vein. Turns out that there were 11 pieces of iron. Once you have the iron and the red mushroom, everything else is relatively easy--the most time consuming part was standing next to a chicken for 3 minutes waiting for him to lay an egg.

Donk, that challenge you describe seems impossible. 36 iron ingots and a pumpkin in 30 minutes just seems incredibly hard

Re: Minecraft

It would be pretty easy if not for the pumpkin, spend any amount of time in a cave and you're bound to get enough iron. But finding a pumpkin is hard, and you need to be very lucky. The annoying thing about it is, even when you do get pumpkins, other things can go wrong ie not finding enough spiders for string, or not finding a jungle etc.
