I was pretty active on the server for a while recently, but I got bored of every single place below my house being abandoned mineshaft and started playing single player, I'm sure I will return to playing the server at some point but I've reached the point where I don't know what else I want to do in the world.

When the server was setup there was a bug in the server version where mineshafts grew at a crazy rate and even generated on top of each other.

If you go to any of the newer generated land or generate new land of your own the abandoned mineshafts are much more rare.

Hey. If you're not playing anymore Josh, no reason for you to keep paying. I'm on there a fair bit, but its slowed down to like 20 minutes every once in a while - I find building small things in my town very calming at work and I've run out of things to build...

If someone wants to take over hosting then let me know their Pokerstars name and I can donate - if we're letting it lapse however, is there a way to get an off-line copy of the map (or parts of it at least)?

Add me to the "getting skyrim and playing MC alot less" camp also.

Yeah if the server has to go down I can provide a map download that you just put in your save folder.

Edit: And after a quick test, that's MineCraft without the 'Mine' and the 'Craft'... not really a fan.

is there much of a diff between beta 1.2 and now v1.0 ?

I played 1.2 once, tried to dig into a cave bc caves looked cool, got stuck in a hole too deep and havent played since.

why didn't you dig your way out?

You need heart and committment to play minecraft.

1.2 is almost a year ago - a lot has changed since then. But don't go cave exploring without equipment.

I think the most players I've seen on at once was 5, and that was an isolated incidence. I think it's safe to say the # of players logging in with any sort of regularity, say once a week, is less than 10(probably much less).

While it was cool to walk around and see what people built, the server feels essentially like single player, with the added detractor that it's easy to wander into a cave someone else was already exploring.

If activity is going to pick up again having a server would be cool, but if not I'm fine without one.

Evidently theres some drama after minecon with notch calling out the yogscast guys (on twitter) for being arrogant divas who acted like complete pricks to everyone there.

He rips into them surprisingly strongly snd claims they were the only ones who demanded payment for showing up, and that they said they were pretty much the only reason minecraft is as popular as it is.
