But it gets old and the grind gets to you. That was my point. I started a new game and started building a new base but after about an hour I was like... what's the point. I've done it all before.

The game needs more variety to the adventure/survival part of it. For instance redstone needs to have more uses.
so you got 70 hours of enjoyment out of your £10/$15

i don't see what you have to complain about

I've been checking out this multiplayer server http://godcraft.com/

No has nothing to do with God or religion...

Here's the guys youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/kanechart
and he puts up quite a few videos of the server. I think he's taking members with $10 donations which isn't much. They build some pretty epic stuff here just watch the videos. No inv editing/duping items. Everything has to be hand mined.

They've had some issues with griefers and such, but they seem to be getting pretty good control of the situation. Haven't yet decided to join or donate but I'm seriously considering it.

@ Swiiftx & Phildo ok...so are you saying you would DISLIKE more direct purpose in the game? Notch has said himself in interviews that he intends to have more of a "point" in the final game...so chill the freak out. jesus.

All I'm saying is that yes, the developer should put in more functions in the game, like wheels and what not, but there should be no "point" of that sort that u have to rescue a princess and then you complete the game.

Maybe eventually as the game evolves into more and more versions we'll graduate to wheels, then more animals, then animals to ride, then cars, then rockets where we can go to the moon and mine the moon, then we'll go to an entire global minecraft community and can wage war on each other, then we will graduate to natural disasters such as tornadoes and earthquakes. Tornadoes will do damage to any structure in its path while earthquakes will alter the terrain with shifting blocks. If your structure is above a cavern, that cavern will fill in. Anything above that will shift down. Also, there will be wildfires that will spread out and the only way you can stop it is by digging out a perimeter at least one block lower, like a dirt trench. Anything on the same level or higher will be vulnerable, but the fire can never go lower.

Then after that we will be able to mine for very, very, very rare ores that will be able to be used for weapons of mass destruction and then you can nuke your enemies. Then eventually there will be a minecraft economy where we can buy and sell, trade, or barter ores, wheat, food, weapons, etc. It will be a completely free market. Then there will be recessions. People will mine for others like slaves. Then one person who plays this game nonstop and accumulates the vast majority of wealth will become a dictator and will eventually create a mass genocide of his slaves in an attempt to rule the world. Those who are not near this dictator will be aware of the problems on the other side of the MinecraftEarth due to an ingame news reporting system. Then, they will gather together and travel to this destination in an attempt to take down the dictator and take control of his WMD to disable it, break it up into its component parts. All of these people who took down the regime will all hold one piece of the WMD so that it cannot be pieced back together unless everyone is taken down and the pieces are reclaimed.

Well all I'm saying is that I'm sick of seeing: "There needs to be more to this game." followed by "Go play something else."

http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/co...our_questions/

Excerpt:

6. ToggleOff was curious what your ultimate direction for Minecraft is, Survival Single Player and and Multiplayer. Sombersunday had a follow up- Is it different then your original goal for MineCraft?

The game seems to be staying somewhat close to the original vision. I'm going to spend time making single player and multiplayer even more integrated, to the point of you being able to invite friends directly into your single player game. I'm also most likely going to add some kind of narrative to the game so that the player has an actual goal. It might not be easy to accomplish this goal, but at least it will add some sense of direction. One aspect that's kind of evolved over the time, and still isn't in place, is the idea of competitive multiplayer with game modes like Capture The Flag or Team Furnace. These will appear when I add the modding support sometime during beta. I will implement one or two game modes as open source reference implementations, then we might possibly approach mod makers to include their mods into the official game

So in the future, you should flame people less when they ask for more.

I really hope so.

However, I feel that the framework of the game offers a chance for so much more.

Right now I don't see a good reason for me to play the game. It lacks a replayability factor for me.

I think Notch did an awesome job on the game and he deserves the rewards he's getting, but I sure do wish that the game will be made open source sometime in the future so that people, me included, can start adding stuff that they think of to the game. If it becomes OS I think it will truly explode.

For me, building a slightly prettier house or a bigger castle just isn't exciting. Designing an awesome new monster trap that uses redstone mechanics to drown them in lava is. Or a castle with a working drawbridge. Or monsters that can bash down walls, so you need new ways to defend against them.

Basically, I need more functionality.

I'm sure it will come eventually. Until then I have Dwarf Fortress.

You shouldn't feel sick to those comments, it isn't a healthy approach my friend.

I read somewhere that after he couldn't squeeze out any more cash = people stop buying the game, he would let some time go and then he would make it open source.

Pro Minecraft tip: Don't build an incinerator using your wooden house as one of the walls to hold the lava

Luckily I didn't save it so I should be alright next time I load up.

I haven't yet jumped in this game, but wow... people are doing such amazing things in it, and it's such a great open ended sandbox thing, that I feel I'll get stuck in it.

What do you mean by incinerator? To get rid of things?

When I want to get rid of something like my 9 bajillion stacks of dirt and stone, I just open my inventory and click and drag the items off the side of my inventory, which causes me to drop them. If you are next to something you'll just pick them up again so I usually go in my inventory and stand near the water or off a block that goes lower and just unload everything. They eventually disappear.

I came across this vid awhile ago and subscribed to the dude. I badly wanna see that finished project.

The game definitely has a way of sticking to people. I no longer just channel surf in the evenings...I channel surf and build spires.

That's kind of cool, thanks. I guess it is just another thing to add. Before I knew how to get rid of things in batches I would spam my drop button. I figured there had to be a better way!

Did anyone else notice minecraft has cracked half a million purchases on the main web site?

105 servers, 1624810 registered, 512827 purchases.

at $14 a time that's not bad scratch for essentially one guy and a game still in alpha.
