I just finished a class on digital electronics. It's interesting stuff but I really didn't expect any of that knowledge to be immediately useful.

Turns out understanding T flip-flops, RS nor latches, etc. helps a lot in minecraft.

I would renew the 2p2 MC Realms server I had running for awhile, if someone else paid (or helped) for the renewal, it's not much (maybe $15 for a couple months?) but not something I'm willing to pay for without help or interest.

Nobody stepped up to help pay for the renewals and I stopped playing so I just decided not to renew it, and nobody contacted me after that.

It had 20ish players, eight or so significant "bases" that I'm aware of, and a "PvP Arena", also a place setup in the Nether by DonkDonkDonkDonk to farm Endermans with no risk of death, that was pretty awesome.

It was a pretty cool server, but when it died down I stopped renewing it.

I could give it another run, but I'm not going to pay for it myself anymore. PM me if you want to join/help pay for it to be renewed.

Tried out a few FTB-packs and why did they all get so pointlessly complicated? You can hardly make anything without having a ton of tools and stuff it seems - making a copper wire used to be three copper bars in a row, now you need to make a hammer which makes copper plates and then make a wire cutter which makes wires out of the plates. And it just goes on - there are different hammers and different tools and making pretty much anything advanced means filling your inventory with various tools.

It's just so tedious and pointless - are there any current packs that work about the same as ininity or unleshed did a couple of years back? I mean - even gregtech back then was less frustrating than this and god knows that sucked enough.

Make sure you're not playing in any special game modes, FTB has a hard game mode or something that is all about making everything more complicated

That may be the issue - how do I check what I'm running though? This new curse-client for FTB is pretty confusing.

I'm trying Infinity Evolved and I see the description says "two modes are currently included: 'normal' and 'expert'" but how do I tell which one I'm running?

Is it in the curse-client or in the minecraft-menus?

If you bring up your inventory there should be some icons for books, one of them should have commands in it and show how to change modes or display them.

Seems it's a console command and I was already in 'normal'.

Maybe I can install an older version or something - I'll poke around a bit someday.

You might be right that the recipes have become more involved though, I don't remember playing when copper wire was made by anything other than making copper sheets and using a cutter on them and I started with FTB infinity.

i remember when copper wire was made with three copper in a row, that was a bunch of years ago i was playing. Picked it up again recently and had to relearn everything but am totally addicted now.

So back in December I made a bunch of posts in this thread about getting my two nephews (8/9 years old) set up on x-box and minecraft. Got a lot of help here and got them set up in time for x-mas with minecraft and a few other games.

They LOVE it, especially minecraft

When they play, they take turns in front of the TV in 1/2 hour - 1 hour long increments. As you can imagine, when one gets impatient, things can get a bit nasty between them.

My Sister was (and still is) not willing to let them play with others over the internet, but she is willing to let them play multi player with other kids who are in the house.

When I 1st set up the xbox for her I was surprised to see she had an old, NON HDTV. But we got everything set up and running.

They have played split screen/multiplayer Beach Buggy Racing on the current set up.

When I researched playing multiplayer minecraft, it says splitscreen wont work on non HDTV's.

http://m.wikihow.com/Play-Multiplaye...craft-Xbox-360

....so my question is, why would split screen multiplayer work on BeachBuggy Racing but not on Minecraft on the current TV.

.....and when they say it wont work, is it worth me trying to set it up anyways....perhaps it would work, but just be slower or with weaker graphics ??? Or when they say it wont work, do they really mean DONT BOTHER......CAUSE IT WONT WORK ?

I advised her it probably would not work, but I could try to set it up and see what happens, while also advising her to bite the bullet and get an HDTV.

Any info help/info appreciated. I dont have xbox myself so when I help them I need to research it first, figure out whats what, then drive over there and try to help......while the kids stand behind me, impatiently waiting for results.

Too much pressure !

there's nothing to set up, if you have two controllers just try to join a local game.

meaning, while one child is playing, power on the second remote, hit either A or the, uh, start button (the screen will literally tell you what button to push once the 2nd controller is on and connected to the xbox). From there you may have to select a second local account to play on, but after that you're good to go

worth a shot. that link i sent said it "WONT" work on non HDTV, but then I read in the comments that it "might" work as long at the resolution is 720 or better

I will give it a shot !

There's not a lot of pixels to work with on an old standard def TV, they may have decided that it was too crappy an experience to support.
