Re: Mass Effect 3

On a more serious note, Empire would have sucked if they never made Jedi. It's only after the trilogy is complete that you can say Empire was better. The same could be true of ME2, because it clearly sets up the final game in a truly epic way.

FWIW, I thought ME2 was great for what it's supposed to be, the bridge between the beginning and end.

Possibly true with Starwars (I've never seen those films). But obviously not true with Terminator.

I believe Characters are more important than story.

Spot on.
Now, let's stop the trolling and go back to the ME3 thing. How is The Illusive man serving the Reapers? The only thing I can think of is that he is "undercover" or something. Indoctrination will be boring, and any other option makes reviving Shepard pointless. Or maybe he wants to take over the Galaxy. Likely the latter imo.

Well Terminator was never designed to be a ever increasing trilogy imo.

The illusive man is a great character! He seems totally untrustworthy and aloof, but I believe he isn't a bad guy. My spider senses are telling me that he's good. I'm 99% sure he's not working with the reapers, because he supplied the intelligence that defeated them.

Yeah there's no reason to bring back the only person who can stop the reapers if he's actually working for the reapers imo.

Re: Mass Effect 3

Speaking of not trolling

I will def. be playing through both these games trying to time it so I finish ME2 as 3 is coming out. My first play through was standard-ish sentinal type, my second was a cross between Jack Bauer and Arnold from his badassery days with a touch of OCD where he would stop everything he's doing and finish a mission he just got, regardless of what's going on. A lot of times I'd be doing a mission, get a call, go to do that, pick up a side quest, wander off to do that, get another side quest....it was rather fun.

the shooting mechanics in this game suck balls compared to true shooter games. until they step that up i won't be able to get into it.

Re: Mass Effect 3

It's mainly an RPG though. And the shooter mechanisms in the sequel was just as good as those in i.e. Gears of War, which is a shooter game.

Which is fine, it's just not ever going to get players like myself to buy the game, but they seem to be doing alright without me so meh.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I enjoyed ME2 a lot, but as part of a trilogy I think it was pretty horrible.

I thought all of the story lines were great and fun, and I enjoyed all the characters, but I'd already assembled a good cast of characters in ME1. The overall story was hardly moved forward in this game, and instead of expanding on the characters I already know, for the most part new story lines were introduced. I think this is a pretty clear indication of Bioware's inability to create an epic story, and instead relying on many good, short story lines.

I'm hoping I'm wrong and they come out with a kickass epic third installment, but my hopes aren't high.

Having said that, I enjoy the short stories enough to play the third, and second those who said that ME2 has a pretty good combat system which was fast and fun.

Re: Mass Effect 3

I didn't say that, I said it hardly moved forward.

I can say that because the plot hardly moved forward.

The entire plotline basically takes place after you enter the omega 4 relay. Everything else is just filler for the ME world, which as I already said, I'm fine with. It does not give the storyline a very epic feel though as very little actually happens in the entire game as far as advancing the plot is concerned and instead of building on the already great cast of characters from ME1 the designers instead opted to just give a little backstory for an entire new cast so that they wouldn't have to break the mold which has already worked.
