Re: Magic: The gathering Online

What I took out of that article was to play lots of red, although that's something I was already doing anyway so maybe I was just looking for reasons to reinforce my beliefs. It tends to have a good combination of openness, speed, and power. I feel like blue is overdrafted, and even though you have to take Mist Raven when you open it the risk of getting cut from both directions is high. So I prefer to pair red with whichever is open of green or blue when I can, or white if I get Goldnight Commander or Nearheath Pilgrim.

I feel especially red is really overdrafted. I think I have had good red deck exactly once out of 7-8 drafts.

Yeah the only exciting thing about the new Liliana is that she teases either a shockland reprint or a new kind of basic land type duals. My money's on the latter.

Anyone interested in doing a Legacy Rotisserie draft and playing on Cockatrice/MWS? Got the idea from Limited Resources and it sounds fun.

Re: Magic: The gathering Online

Ajani is sooooo good. Very hard to kill, does something immediatly, ulti can win the game on it's own, costs 3, can deal ton of damage immediatly.

Like random scenario:

t1 nothing
t2 random 2/2
t3 ajani +1/+1 you have 3/3
t4 play hero of bladehold +1/+1 hero.
And that's obv very bad draw. When you add in a 1-drop and actually some real 2 drop you are putting much more pressure.

Re: Magic: The gathering Online

I think Ajani is pretty underrated for being 3 mana which is pretty huge for planeswalkers. Liliana of the Veil was really good in a number of different formats in various metagames, and Ajani is arguably better. The new Liliana though........ pretty meh. Even if you can put to use both sides of its -3 ability really seems like it should start with 4 loyalty at 4 mana.

Yeah basically the new Liliana could be ok-ish if she wasn't named Liliana. It is kinda hard to think a deck for her, but I guess she could be ok in monoblack control or if some Bx control with black dual lands if there also exists some other effect that lets you search for a swamp.

Re: Magic: The gathering Online

Liliana seems pretty weak for 4 mana.

She'd have to be in a mostly black deck that was already excellent at controlling the board and is desperate for hitting its land drops.. and even then she wont be an all star.

Very slow card. Takes multiple turns to have any impact to the game to make up for her cost.

I could be underrating the versatility of the second ability of +x/+x or -x/-x but considering it kills her off the bat, or you probably going to only be able to use it once in her lifetime means it can never be that devastating for what you are paying for it.

It will require multiple turns of activation before she breaks even value wise and can't protect herself that well to achieve that goal.

Not only does it take a while to realize her value, but the top 15% best case scenario upside for casting her will rarely be WAY above value.
