Got pretty tired of the last block (Didn't play much of the 2nd set and never even played any Journey Into Nyx, the first set I missed entirely in a long time), but Khans could drag me back.

Heavy gold sets can make for interesting drafts.

SW82:
Yeah, I took off the vast majority of Theros block. I heard it got a lot better as a full block, but I had so many games in Theros that weren't even enjoyable as one person just thoroughly smashed someones face with a giant Voltron (I include games I won in that manner in the "not enjoyable" category) that I just stopped once I realized Born of the Gods didn't really change anything.

I know a lot of people at a high level said they liked the format, but it just wasn't for me. Not a huge deal as not every set will be. Khans looks great so far though and I'm excited.

I've been enjoying M15 so far too. The last 2 core sets have been pretty solid, and this one seems no different.

I just did my free phantom sealed. You keep the cards.

What do you end up pairing red with here?

The red curve looks like this

The green just left nothing in the midgame. You had a couple bears, a spider, and then only a couple 6 drops. The white had a lot of early drops and could be pretty aggro, but it would require to have white early and we have heaps of RR casting cost cards. I wasn't sure if I was overrating how big an issue that would be or not. Blue just seemed pretty bad since we had no way to abuse peel. The 2 tern + the pathmage could help me be aggressive, but ehhh. Black had some removal and good late game (was happy to see caustic tar reprinted) but would leave us pretty vulnerable in getting to the late game.

Just felt pretty stuck here.

edit: bleh that graphic for cards you don't own makes that first shot almost unreadable

I can't figure out how/where to use them. All I see are new player phantoms for M15, and I don't qualify for that

Agree with all of that on Theros block, good summary.

I'm not sold on morph making a comeback, not my favorite mechanic. We'll see how they do it this time around. Guess we'll finally have some official names for the other five wedges as well?

ETA: or maybe not, we'll see if people will use the clan names for the wedges. http://www.magicspoiler.com/khans-tarkir/

I'm not a fan of morph as a mechanic either, but imo if they're going to bring it back, a tri-color block like this is the time to do it. I loved Invasion Block and Shards block, but a big issue with those formats was losing games due to mana ****ting out. Morph can do a lot of heavy lifting in solving that issue.

I'm 1-0 in friendly swiss, went Blue/Black because it just seemed to work. I'm (ignorantly) guessing these are my only cards worth anything more than a ticket, but I'll try and find a general list and double check.

Foil Llanowar Waste
Indulgent Tormentor
Hivelord Sliver

Good point, hadn't considered that.

I actually liked the format with Journey and think you should give it a shot. There were no common bestow creatures in the set and the uncommon ones weren't insane, so heroic got infinitely worse. They also printed some reasonable answers to bestow like Feast of Dreams, the tapper guy, etc. The result is that there's far fewer goldfish games where one guy just drops Wingsteed, bestows it twice, and wins. Still not a guarantee that you'll like it, but I do think Journey solved a lot of the problems I had with the previous formats.

Alright, I'll take your advice and fire one up. Cmon Elspeth

Edit: wow, journey is being sold for 1.8? I'd seen 2.1 for Dragon's Maze when it was still the most recent format, but never ever anything under 2.

Did everyone get double phantom points and M15 pre-release entry things? - I just randomly realized I had twice what I was supposed to get

Also does anyone know how to shrink the 'red zone' down to nothing? I've seen it on some streams but can't figure it out for the life of me.

I only got the 35 phantom points and 1 of each pre-release colour

As for the red zone, I don't know if it's possible to disable it permanantly but in the options in the bottom right of the match window you can disable it whenever there aren't any creatures attacking ("Keep the red zone always open" option).

Put the cards in your trade binder. Just highlight them and right click - add to trade binder.

tough to keep positive ticket count when these boosters are so low on trade market. Best I can get for 1 JOU pack and BOG is $3

It's literally two clicks? Granted it seems annoying if you want to make e.g. 8 out of 19 tradable, since the only options are "add 1" and "add all".

This is the part which made me think I might have been missing something too, as that seems incredibly silly.
