I'm ****ing pissed.

they wont let me create a new acount, I tried 5 times, then when I hit complete my order. it says "sorry, new registration is currently closed' which is bull since I know somebody who hours ago signed up.

I call support they tell me that its either my firewall or ports. i ve turned off my firewall and tried it but still nothing.

never, and I mean never have i ever encountered something this stupid. I mean, how could my ports be blocking this?

They only get weaker against the Hexproof legends. Image and metamorph just get to copy sweet things now.

You do realize that if you clone their awesome legend you also get one? And that a slight nerf to clones that doesn't autokill some of the most "fun" cards in the game makes it easier to print clones on the power level of metamorph?

Like, why should blue get a Hero's Demise that beats every protection ability in the game, and also have it be able to do other things?

Near certain Metamorph was played in some versions of Caw Blade right up until the Jace Banning

btw, I consider it a plus that clones are still relevant against Geist of St. Traft but do almost nothing against cards like Gaddock Teeg and Thalia

Destroying > Copying 90% of time since they get the first attack.

The cloner's deck also will likely not be able to take advantage of the legend as well as its opponent's deck (cloning a Thrun without access to green mana, for instance).

Look, I'm not saying they're not worse in most cases. I'm just saying that it's still generally doing something relevant and more in line with the spirit of what the card is intended to do.

So, I am kinda new to Magic and Magic Online. A quick question: so, I've seen the Planeswalker format and understand that there are special Planeswalker cards. Are these cards bought as part of expansion packs or something? I've searched around a good bit, but can't figure this out.

I know when I started (and it should probably still be this way), you got a bunch of 'planeswalker' cards and some pre-made decks. Planeswalker cards are gold bordered and can ONLY be played in the planeswalker format. In addition only planeswalker cards can be played in this format. So it lets you play with some cool/powerful cards like http://magiccards.info/ala/en/172.html without having to pay for them or find them in trades. You start with one pack and I believe there are other packs for sale at $5 each in the store. Its a great casual/start out format, but is pretty much never used for any sort of tournament.

shanks is right. I think they're up to like 5 planeswalker packs now, probably still like $5 apiece

btw Ryusei, The Falling Star is going to be the Modern Masters analogue to Foil Squires in Time Spiral, lol (that entire cycle is apparently mythic)

Thanks for the response. I guess what I'm confused about is the actual Planeswalker cards, such as shown here. I'm guessing that these are not part of the online game, even when playing with a "Planeswalker" deck and format through the MtGO client. Is this correct? Are those cards only available via paper cards??

The planeswalker card type and the planeswalker format are completely different things. Planeswalker format cards are gold-bordered and untradable, but otherwise no different from the same cards in other formats. The planeswalker card type appears in the game proper (and you can play with them in Magic: Online just like any other tournament legal card)

here is the page you want btw:

So no Thoughtseize spoiled yet either means it isn't mythic or... it isn't getting reprinted!

Reprinted in MM? I don't know why but a lot of people think it's being reprinted in the next block.

If Duress (or some similar targeted discard) isn't in m14, I could see it. It seems like they want one of those effects in Standard, and sometimes if an effect is going to be reprinted in the next block, they'll omit it from the core set (like when M10 didn't have Wrath of God, but we got Day of Judgment in Zendikar, or no DOJ in M13, but Supreme Verdict in RTR, etc.)

Hmm. Maybe it's just Wrath effects, actually. I remember thinking we'd get a Pyroclasm in RTR block when it wasn't in m13, but that obviously didn't happen.

Shrug. Seems like baseless speculation to me.

Bonfire of the Damned/Mizzium Mortars may be contributing to lack of Pyroclasm. I know they don't do the same thing, but how many sweepers does red need?

btw, cwar, I give 0 weight to "people believe" without specific evidence. You can always find some yahoo speculating anything and everything about this game.

The 'hating Modern' part was in jest; we are talking about a set specifically designed to push the Modern format, afterall.

It isn't just wraths. R&D seems to not want too many effects of one type in the format at one time. Birds and Llanowar Elves rotated out after Arbor Elf and Avacyn's Pilgrim entered, for instance. Elves is coming back as those two rotate out (though with another name, cannot remember what it is but it is an elf). I would be a bit surprised if Birds, or something similar, was not reprinted in the rare slot or in Theros.

Also, Thoughtseize could still be in MM guys. It would just have to be rare (or uncommon/common, but they wouldn't do that).

Sadly it can't be. From the name and number crunch on MTGS.

"99 Street Wraith, Uncommon
100 Tombstalker, Rare"

I wouldn't be surprised to see it in another upcoming set though.

The images on mtgs are not up for either of those cards in the spoiler; how does one determine that they are numbers 99 and 100?

Ah yeah, it seems you are right. Street Wraith's number is confirmed (http://puremtgo.com/articles/modern-...-and-uncommons), but Tombstalker's is not. Still room for it, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just read Sam Stoddard's preview article and realized that they expect Dampen Thought to be a deck in Modern Masters limited. Not sure how I feel about devoting cards to Limited in a set whose sole purpose is to seed a constructed format, but I'm curious enough to want to draft the set.
