Awesome.

You said it's a coinflip yourself. 10:9 odds is pretty good, isn't it?

Kyle give him 4:3

Kyle could give him 2 to 1 and it still wouldn't be fair.

Also, lol @ winning states as an accomplishment.

I will give you 3-2 if you like, better odds than KyleB is offering and I didn't design the deck !

I didn't win states either...

When Alara Reborn comes out, I'm probably going to do a lot of Pirate Drafts ("RRR" drafts) on mtgo.

Anyone got any advice? I mean I can generally pick out what the "most powerful" card is of a bunch of cards, and I know that in RRR the 2 mana "gains a benefit with another multicolored card" creatures will be ridiculously nutty since that pretty much always happens.

Pretty much draft good cards, pick a shard, 3 color generally right? For RRR specifically

Well, I'll doubt you'll be able to get enough cards for just 2 colors so 3 will probably be minimum.

I think generally RRR drafts will all just come down to who gets less manascrewed, with almost no manafixing in the set. The blades are going to be great and if you can drop one turn 2 you will probably be way ahead. I haven't played with the set live though so maybe I'm a bit off here.

Well, every card is multicolored (literally) so the blades are absurd. Ranked in absurdity level below.

They're probably the best pick for common slot every time (Besides maybe only Crystallization and Terminate)

#1) 2 mana for a 3/2 flier

#2) 2 mana for a 3/2 deathtouch

#3) 2 mana for a 3/2 first strike

I'm thinking that forcing Esper a LOT of the time may always be the right play (unless you open a bomb or something else is always open) because Esper Stormblade is ridiculous and the other Esper crew isn't bad.

Haven't played RRR myself yet but I'm pretty sure that a big part of RRR is going to be who can draft the most blades

It's also a nice bonus that Esper can cast the top 3 blades

Edit: I probably should say that I just want to force Esper Stormblade which means I'm forcing one of W/U/B, G/W/U, or U/B/R

If you think Esper Stormblade is good, try facing a turn two Jund Hackblade off a Borderpost

Bituminous Blast >>>> Any of the blades, FWIW, and I think Jund or Grixis-based decks are best.

On a quick glance, I think the only uncommons which are better than the blades are:

So pretty much other than those 5 uncommons, and a couple of rares, pick priority is probably going to be a Blade each time

Probably going to be a fairly easy set to draft because of the sheer dominance of all the blades, hopefully going in people underestimate the blades and have them as 3rd-5th pick instead of 1st-3rd pick

violent outburst (whatever the 4GR return thing is) is absolutely insane. When you return a removal spell to your hand with that, you will have a raging erection.

Hmm, I dunno mang, this costs a lot of mana
It is a 2 for 1 and yeah when you return a big spell the raging erection is there but I think I still rate the blades more than this one

Definitely not. You cycle a Soujourners or a Deadshot Minotaur and rebuy it. It's simple to have a 5 mana spell in the graveyard. It's significantly better than all the blades except for possibly Jund Hackblade if you have the aggro deck.

What are some good sources for articles/content? I've found:

pureMTGO (rss-able)
thestarkingtonpost (rss-able)
channelfireball (rss-able)
starcitygames (many articles require "premium" membership but it's cheap)
wizards.com "daily mtg"

Anything else?

How about good forums?

there is an incredible of joy when you hit a borderpost on the play with that on t3

speaking of borderposts, I hate them so far and only play them when its the only way to get the manabase reasonable which is a common problem given the absurdity of reborn being 100% multicolor

clearly need a rakeback provider that gives tix instead of cash, it's where it is going to go anyway.

http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazin.../other/050609a

Alara Reborn "Prerelease" starts next week (May 15th) - 30 ticket entry fees

I don't have a lot of experience in the tournament payouts, this a "good deal"?

Edit: Apparently, it's a bad deal according to the mtgo forums

mtgsalvation.com (you'll need to build an ignore list but once you do the standard and block forums are great. and if you put serious effort into pauper or classic, good content is needed...)

magictraders.com (no articles, forum discussion isn't the greatest, but forum sellers love dumping tix for slightly less than they should)
