How much money is necessary to start playing (I'm probably thinking about drafting a fair amount). Like $100? $150? How quickly do you burn through money?

Also, how easily can I trade online cards for real money (or PS/Ft transfer...etc) with other players?

And lastly, are there drafts for older sets, like Rav block (this was the last block when I quit)?

Depends on what you play and how good you are. Drafts are ~$14 apiece to enter, but you keep the cards and the prize payouts for an 8man are roughly $32/$28 for the 8/4, $16/$12/$8/$8 for the 4/3/2/2, though that's not counting the value of the cards you draft. Usually the only drafts running are online only sets, plus whatever's legal in Standard at the time.

Never tried getting money off the site. There's no official system for it so you basically have to hope you don't get scammed.

I definitely agree with playing blue and white with that card pool. The only real question is whether or not to splash black for some removal. If you had more than 1 mana fixer, I would be 100% sure you should do that. Even so, it is tempting.

I think playing without the black splash, you can make a really nice aggressive merfolk deck. Lots of quick drops, and I think 5 ways to pump them up and keep the pressure on (Reejerey x2, sage of fables, meadowboon, surge of thoughtweft).

Here is my blue/white decklist:

Non-creature spells:
Moonglove Extract
Stream of Unconsciousness
Shields of Velis Vel. - I think this card is underrated. It can really wreck your opponent in a big combat phase with all of your small creatures, it works well with: Silvergill Douser, Reejerey(especially), Judge of Currents, Distant Melody, Surge of Thoughtweft.
Surge of Thoughtweft
Distant Melody
Distant Melody - I think this card doesn't work in every deck, but with all the cheap creatures + a token generator, it will often be a good turn 4 play to keep your deck going.
Ponder
Research the Deep

Creatures:
Mothdust Changeling - Enables the Schoolmaster, plus obvious tribal interactions
Tideshaper Mystic
Judge of Currents
Silvergill Douser
Shapesharer - Bomby
Stonybrook Angler
Order of the Golden Cricket
Merrow Reejerey
Merrow Reejerey
Sage of Fables
Avian Changeling
Burrenton Bombardier

Meadowboon
Oaken Brawler
Aethersnipe

Thanks for the advice, glad to know I was on the right track. I actually made a similiar deck and won 2 matches but this was after I lost two matches. I ended losing another to go 2-3 but I just won a match with the deck you recommended. I looked at some finished leagues and I'm track to win 2 packs I think, which is better than nothing.

First MTGO league ever. I took about 10 years off MTG, but decided to get back into it during the PLC release. Then took about a year off and decided to start playing again. Signed up for a Lorwyn-Morningtide league. Could use a hand coming up with my deck. At first glance R/B/U seems to be strongest, but I'm honestly out of touch. Thanks in advance:

Hate doing this, but I have no clue with these cards. My first thought was white and (red or black), but I'm probably way off. I like the possibility of Elvish Promenade (plus Bramblewood Paragon), I think I need white in my deck. It's a bit over my head. Any help would be appreciated. I won my first match by forfeit, so I haven't even got to see how pathetic my first build (white, red, with a touch of black) was. What's the best way to 'test' league decks.

There is an error involving two + core processors, the only way around it is to set the affinty of the program to run on only one processor and you have to do it each time you start the program via task manager.

just by looking at them for a sec id say g/w splash eyeblights ending for the deck in the 1st pic and u/w splash some sort of removal in the 2nd

The only thing with playing U/W in Brandon's deck is I don't find that many playable creatures. I feel like playing U/B with a w splash might be better overall. This is of course, keeping in mind that I don't believe I have a very good grasp of the set yet (or Magic overall since coming back).

Here's how I would build it:

Non-creature Spells:
Veteran's Armament
Moonglove Extract
Diviner's Wand
Broken Ambitions
Jace Beleren
Ego Erasure
Glimmerdust Nap
Eyeblight's Ending
Weight of Conscience

Creatures:
Nevermaker
Sentinels of Glen Elandra
Latchkey Faerie
Notorious Throng
Boggart Loggers
Moonglove Changeling x 2
Marsh flitter
Final-Sting Faerie
Shriekmaw
Nightshade Schemers
Fendeep Summoner
Waterspout Weavers
Hoofprints of the Stag

Lands:
3x Plains
7x Swamps
7x Islands
(You could do 2x Plains, 8x Swamps)

I feel like that's super rough, and I'm sure people better than me would build it differently, but that's how I would build it without any advice.

Here's another way to build it that's U/W/b like hawkz suggested, but this is rough again and I feel like I have to play some weird black spells this way.

Non-creatures:
Veteran's Armament
Moonglove Extract
Diviner's Wand
Daily Regimen
Weight of Conscience
Crib Swap
Broken Ambitions
Jace Beleren
Ego Erasure
Glimmerdust Nap
Eyeblight's Ending

Creatures:
Goldmeadow Harrier
Hoofprints of the Stag
Order of the Golden Cricket
Kithkin Zephyrnaut
Avian Changeling
Kinsbaile Balloonist
Changeling ero
Nevermaker
Sentinels of Glen Elandra
Latchkey Faerie
Notorious Throng
Shriekmaw
Final-Sting Faerie

7 Plains
7 Islands
3 Swamps

Thanks for the advice guys. I think overall the content of my packages was horriable comparably speaking. If I don't start a new league and get new cards i'll give some of the ideals a try.

MediaPA,

Looking at your deck, you have lots of sick equipment...I feel like I would want to use U/W and just beat away with evasion + equipment. Basically you're hoping to win before you lose...lol.

Alternatively, I think you might go W/G/b and just go for the beats again.

On first try, I would build it...

Non-creatures:
Oblivion Ring
Neck Snap
Earthbrawn
Fistful of Force
Primal Command
Runed Stalactite
Wanderer's Twig
Veteran's Armaments
Obsidian Battle-Axe
Deathrender

Creatures:
Goldmeadow Harrier
Kinsbaile Skirmisher
Changeling Sentinel
Galepowder Mage
Plover Knights
Bramblewood Paragon
Elvish Warrior
Lys Alana Bowmaster
Winnower Patrol
Briarhorn
Cloudcrown Oak
Everbark Shaman
Nath's Elite

So, I'm leaving the black out of this build, because the only thing I would play black as a splash for is Eyeblight's Ending. Actually, instead of black you could play red for the Shard Volleys, but I still don't like that either.

I think this build is ok, I wish you had more creatures. You could actually maybe play Mosquito Guard and just play 16 lands since I don't think your spells are so expensive and you have the Wanderer's Twig.

I sent you a PM regarding playing me for practice if you want.

Ok...I think I would build ASU's deck like this...

Non-creatures:
Nameless Inversion
Noggin Whack
Pack's Disdain
Hurly-Burly
Incendiary Command
Lash Out
Rival's Duel
Shard Volley x 2

Creatures:
Inspired Sprite
Latchkey Faerie
Supreme Exemplar
Dread
Festercreep
Moonglove Changling
Mournwhelk
Warren Pilerers
Flamekin Bladewhirl
Flamekin Brawler
Hamletback Goliath
Lowland Oaf
Stindrinker Daredevil (not so happy about this, but you have some giants and a 1/3 body isn't awful)
Thundercloud Shaman

Lands:
Vivid Creek
2x Island
7x Swamp
7x Mountain

I would make an argument against myself for taking out something like Hurly-Burly and putting in an extra Swamp because of the BBB in Dread and the general expensiveness of some of your creatures.

But basically, I would play removal spells and stuff and the small creatures to get trades until you throw down a world-beater like Dread or Supreme Exemplar or Hamletback Goliath.

I don't think you have to do it every time. I set the affinity before, and now when I run it, I just right click on the icon and select 'run as administrator'. That works fine for me.

ASU, I think this is how you should build it:

blue 11

Aethersnipe
Broken Ambitions
Dewdrop spy
Drowner of secrets
Inspired sprite
latchkey faerie
Negate
Paperfin rascal
Stonybrook Banneret
Steambed aquitects
Wings of Velis Vel

Red: 10

Seething Pathblazer
Hamletback Goliath
Incendiary Command
Lash Out
Lowland Oaf
Rival's Duel
Shard Volley (X2)
Stinkdrinker Daredevil
Thundercloud Shaman

Black: 2

Warren Pilferers
Nameless Inversion

Land: 17

1x Vivid Creek
1x Swamp
7x Mountain
8x Island

I was wavering whether to go blue/black or black/red or blue/red and decided that you have a lot of flyers in blue and a lot of removal in red. Your black is ok, but I think I need like 2-3 more good cards in it to make it the main. Dread is amazing and so is nameless inversion, but everything else besides Warren Phillifers is meh.

This build is lacking a little in creatures (14) however, you do have 8 forms of removal (1 in a creature and 1 as a combat trick in wings) and 1 "wrath" effect in incendiary command. You also have 2 counter spells as well.

Drowner of secrets is pretty meh without like a ton of merfolks, but sealed is pretty slow, and you do have 4 merfolks so it can do some damage in the mill form.

Appreciate the feedback macdaddy and sykes. I tried the build that macdaddy showed me and got smoked. Drew 1 swamp in 2 games. Someone on MTGO looked at my cards and said I should use white cause my changelings are two of the best in sealed. So I made a W/R splash B deck.....got smoked! I had some bad draws in a few games, but i'll try our your build sykes. I just need practice. I'm very rusty and the Llorwyn/Morningtide cards are totally new to me and I don't have a real grasp on how to play them yet.
