I was wondering the same thing. Anyone have any clue if this is worth the time and how much maintainence is required?

The short answer is that botting is not worth it for people with reasonable incomes. You have to follow card prices often as well.

Know anyone with one for sell that can be updated to keep up with patches/expansion?
I'd be very interested.

I saw one at www.cardboostershop.com that you pay 3.5% of every transaction for. It has a centralized price list that they update every week (though you can override it if you want). So, unless the price list is bad it should require zero effort to operate. That said there are so many bots I wonder if the profit from it would outweigh the cost of the electricity to run it

Was that the bot involved in the scam?

Anybody know any good sideboard cards for R/W against Faeries? It's supposed to be a reasonable matchup but so far I've lost every match.

I'm playing the Ranger of Eos / Reveillark version.

Meh, actually anyone got a good standard deck at all ?

I can't get this to beat anything even though it went 6-0 at Worlds last year. Faeries, Doran, and Kithkin is all I play against if that helps

um, run the b/w token deck that LSV played at kyoto. or 5cc that Gerard ran, however 5cc is a harder deck to play than play creature smash face.

I think I'll try the 5cc deck - I used to be quite good at constructed so I'll probably pick it up reasonably quickly.

That said I like creature smash face decks as well - I was the first person to win a tournament with 'Red Deck Wins' (as opposed to Sligh or Deadguy Red).

tl;dr version: Bots stole passwords and sent them back to the bot's owner who emptied accounts.

speaking of block

if anyone can lend/sell/collateral cards to me, that'd be awesome. mindless grinding poker can be tilting and running a few 8 man blocks would be sweet.

I could, but only in excess of what I have, which means mostly commons/uncommons

I keep trying to make tezz decks work. is not going well.

use starcity or something and lookup cards. or ignore me, as I suck horribly and attempt to make bad decks playable

Tezzeret is awesome in Vintage. Garbage elsewhere.

In other news, I top eighted the Portland PTQ (125 players) with Affinity. Went 5-0-2 in the swiss. Lost in the first round to triple Sower and then mana flood game three. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

My short tournament report:

I roll down to Portland with JoeyZ and Alex Kim on Friday afternoon. 20 miles in, I check my bag for my deckbox and don't see it. We pull over and I randomly have it in my other bag in my trunk, avoiding disaster. We run into traffic in Tacoma and Olympia, but the trip was smooth enough.

We check into our hotel and get dinner with Zaiem/Loucks/Aceman/Corbett/Ryan/Jed/Alex, which was quite good (Indian House). After that, we head over to Jed's friend's place, where we wait 2 hours to cube draft. I end up with a sick midrange Rock deck with Deed, Crime/Punishment, black and green Commands, Spiritmonger, 6 removal spells, Yawgmoth's Will, Sarhkan Vol, Batman, Broodmate Dragon. GG.

We get 6.5 hours of solid sleep (at least I did; I won the random dice roll to see who got a solo bed, ding!), wake up, get breakfast at Burgermiser's or whatever, and register. The place is garbage; it has no ventilation and people don't shower. Awesome. There are three girls there which is easily two more than any PTQ I've ever been to in the Midwest.

I play affinity that has four Myr Enforcer and 2 Fatal Frenzy, otherwise the list is boring.

R1: Russell w/ Affinity. I win 2-1 after double mulliganing to five in game three and keeping a no-land hand on the draw. I draw a land and play Thopter Drum Worker Frogmite. Booya.

R2: Micheal w/ Affinity. I win 2-0 because he plays Atog and I don't play bad cards (or keep bad hands post-sideboard).

R3: Some guy with G/B Loam. He Raven's Crimes me, plays the 2/2 lifegain sliver, and Kitchen Finks in game one. I lose. In game two I have Ravager/Worker/Enforcer in play and he casts Pithing Needle naming Cranial Plating. Oooookay? In game three he casts two Pithing Needles and an Ancient Grudge which he flashes back. He still lost to infinite 1/1 dudes. Let this be a lesson - when you side in 11 cards that do nothing, you still need to kill me somehow.

R4: Kent w/ Domain Zoo. He talks about being favored (like in the Mox tournament) and I remind him that I defeated him in that. He plays Sulfuric Vortex and gets me to 5; if he draws a 3 damage burn spell I simply die. He doesn't. Game two he leaves Sulfuric Vortex in (fine by me) and he draws three of them but no Ancient Grudge. We discussed it and it's a big sideboard mistake to leave Vortex in. I WANT you to cast it, so you should probably not have it.

R5: Some guy with Bant Aggro. Game one I cast Plating and put it on Thopter and prevent his lifegain with Ravager. Game two he agonizes over his hand and eventually keeps, which I love - players almost always fail to mulligan aggressively enough. I Thoughtseize him and see:

Breeding Pool (Treetop in play), Kataki, 2x Bant Charm, Goyf, Troll Ascetic.

Man, if you have to think THAT hard to keep that hand, I dunno. Yeah, it has no white source, but you have a bunch of them, right? Like, you gotta keep there. I take his Kataki and he draws a white source two turns later. It's not really close; I play Ravager/Master/Plating and though he kills some of it, that's not good enough.

R6: Dude with burn, ID

R7: Daniel with Naya Zoo. I'm paired down and I should play to help Kent out and to smash this dude who is X-1, helping out Aceman and others who will be on the bubble (Justin Rider). But I don't because I want to eat and be fresh for the Top Eight, so I ID.

Top Eight:

Game one I have Enforcer/Worker/Master/Thopter/Frogmite in play with him at low life. His Ancestral Visions fires and he plays triple Sower of Temptation to squeak out a win. I thought for sure I was going to win this game. It was so tilting.

Game two he double mulligans and I double Thoughtseize him. It's somehow a close game, but only because I draw 9 land in a row or something.

Game three I mulligan and keep a marginal hand + Thoughtseize on the draw; I don't get there.

Meh. Not a bad performance considering I haven't played competitive Magic in over four years, I guess.

See you all in Seattle!

That vampire thing 3BB or 4BB that is a 3/3 flyer that makes 2 bats and you sacrifice bats to regenerate it. You can pay 3BB and sac a bat to make two bats. It is unkillable and absurdly annoying. Someone hated the Recurring Nightmare from me. I hate them. I went 4-0 anyway.
