Here is my list of the top 4 picks in the entire format, in order:

1. Grave Titan
2. Chandra
3. Baneslayer Angel
4. Mind Control

Blue is just such a better color than red that I would be inclined to take Mind control, especially at a weaker table with some drafts who might not realize how shallow red is. At a very strong table I think I would take Chandra though.

Basically, I think it is extremely close.

I havent played with chandra, but I think you would pick it over mind control. Mind control is rediculous, but it seems like chandra can do a lot more damage and give you more card advantage. Does anyone go for her 8 ability, or is she used mainly to deal 6 like a fireball?

if you can get to 8 you go for it, I mean you can change plans when on 7 if they play something threatening

otherwise you kill a guy make them make a bad attack and often get to still kill another one afterwards

I think Chandra is a better card, but went with Mind Control since Blue is so strong. Not sure what the right play was.

Anyone have a few minutes to look at an M11 draft and give me some feedback?
It was my first time drafting M11 or any core set for that matter so I went into the swiss queue

Also, I'm looking for feedback on this RoE swiss draft

Thank you very much!

I wouldn't have jumped into GW so quickly, probablly picking up negate over spined wurm pick 4. When you did I would've picked up all those giant spiders that you are severly undervaluing, he is pretty bomby especially in big GW that you are drafting.

Raredraft going really slow.

P1p1 I think doom blade is decent amount better than pacificm, shrug.

why didn't you take a heat ray pick 2?

Isnt corpsehatch > flame slash p1p1?

yeah and if you're gonna take the sash WHY NOT HEAT RAY PICK 2?

I took flame slash instead of Corpsehatch because flame slash is a lot cheaper form of removal and it is very easy to splash it with a wide variety of decks.
Having said that, it was silly to move into green when heat ray was available. I guess I was trying to force a R/G tokens deck but that was kind of silly.

Yeah, I think going GW was a mistake and it was unnecessary. I guess negate would've been a decent alternative.
I'd like to understand what makes the giant spiders bomby in the type of deck I was drafting. Can you please elaborate?

Well giant spider is the best green common imo

in big gw you are trying to ramp into big monster while avoiding death - gaint spider in that sort of deck is pacifism 3-5, it stops all common fliers which is your biggest concern and anything that costs less than 5.

I think a lot of this makes sense, but the best green common is Cultivate IMHO.

Also, in M11 I try to avoid GW like the plague.

Having done the draft, I agree that this color combination did not work out very well. Could you perhaps take a look at the draft and tell me what color combination I could've drafted instead?

Thanks!

GW is really good if you run the armored ascension/sacred wolf combo tho

You rarely want to be in straight GW though, one of the main draws of G/X as a colour combination is that you get the good common/uncommon creatures in green while being able to splash for removal/bombs in other colours e.g. in a PTQ top 8 draft last week I was base green splashing Chandra, Destructive Force and Jace's Ingenuity (along with stuff like Combust, Foresee etc.)

And yeah, Wolf + Ascension is the absolute nuts.

ferrengi: I also would have taken Doom Blade over Pacifism p1p1. As is, your next few picks are fine, but p1p8 you should have taken Awakener Druid over Call to Mind ainec. Call to Mind is situationally good in a base-blue deck with a spell-heavy splash colour like UR or UB, but Druid is fantastic and you had no blue cards so I'm not sure what you were thinking. Beyond that, I echo what everyone else said about Giant Spider.

I can tell you this, taking whispersilk cloak over giant spider is a gigantic mispick. So is taking squadron hawk over giant spider. Awakener druid is really good.

Agreed, but Cloak is better than you think, particularly in WG.
