Went 5-2 with my T1 Rotisserie deck. Will talk about it more at length later. Should have a piece in Max McCall's SCG article this week.

alright, might as well post this mass polymorph list with the vain hope someone might tell me something that will actually make it good rather than just tell me to play primevaltitan.dec

4 misty rainforest
4 khalni garden
2 halimar depths
1 tectonic edge
6 island
6 forest
4 ponder
3 preordain
2 wind zendikon
4 explore
3 rampant growth
4 see beyond
4 growth spasm
3 garruk wildspeaker
3 jace, the mind sculptor
3 mass polymorph
2 madrish cyclops
1 magister sphinx
1 emrakul, the aeons torn

sideboard (tried a bunch of stuff here, all seems to suck!)
3 dispel
2 fog
3 flashfreeze
1 back to nature
2 obstinate baloth
1 pelakka wurm
2 sphinx of the steel wind
and 1 completely open slot, this was baloth #3 for mono red but I dunno if it helps enough.

Don't have a lot of experience w/ polymorph but I would think more halimar depths would be good for early game to set your draws up. I'm also not sure about the madrush cyclops, I understand what they do but you have to have at least 3 creatures out to assure that you actually get one of your two good creatures. Also not sure the sphinx is great, maybe better to just do more eldrazi or cards like iona or protengius or w/e.

Just posting a pool of a recent sealed for kicks. Don't think I've ever had this weird a distribution of colors.

Wtf at 7 red cardsin 6 packs? Is this normal?

I think the gargoyle sentinels are both quite a bit better than the bloodthrone vamp(only good with skeleton) and bog raiders(pure sideboard stuff)

pretty sweet pool

Yeah, should have played sentinel over Bog raiders def. Bloodthrone was for combo with skeleton and egg, but you're right there too.

trying to avoid ruinblaster/tec edge vulnerability much like the pyro ascension decks are with less depths now. The point behind double cyclops is that is they have path/terminate or whatever that they can buy a turn to jace or oring my emrakul and probably survive. I was running progenitus in the slot to counteract that and mystifying maze but it turns out that running out a hasty emrakul even if sphinx is stuck in your hand is pretty good.

I took the plunge and got into this, starting playing around mirage or so and quit I think right after fifth edition came out.

Anyway magic is still an awesome game but the whole online platform is infuriating. It runs like dog **** on my computer (which can run basically any modern game at max) and the interface is confusing as hell. Also, the prices they charge are just ridiculous. To give an analogy, in online poker the rake is less than half of live, but here they're charging me more to play a draft than it would cost to go to my local comic store. I think I will just stick to playing with friends, even though it would be nice to play online.

Everything you said is 100% correct. However their business model is somehow working.
Rumor has it that mtgo will be switching to a webpage type interface. If so I hope it runs better then Mafia Wars runs for me on Firefox.

Pretty sure the business model works because of the mix of the degeneracy of gambling + the skills of chess. It's like Harry Potter meets online poker.

The price thing is what kept me away for so long but now that they have swiss drafts its easy to reduce the cost of playing. You dont have to be a pro to average 2 packs a draft and that basically means you are paying $6/draft, hardly a large amount of money. Open up some money rares and its easy to play for essentially free.

The reason the model works is because there are so many wannbe pros that use it to practise like crazy. While your playing your one draft a week at your local store i've already played 5 drafts in a week and when you meet up with a bunch of people like that at a PTQ you are simply going to get destroyed. I'm not saying its very rational, since most of those kids are trying to be a pro in a game that pays nothing compared to poker, but the degeneracy of gambling is very prevalent in magic.

What is everyone here's rating in limited on modo? What is a good rating? I have no idea what the range of ratings looks like since they made them not public.

Actually, I think it is considerably cheaper to draft online than live. Online, you only have to pay for the 3 packs + 2 tix. However, the site contributes the entire prizepool while you keep the cards that you drafted.
If you do the draft live, you also have to foot the bill for the prizepool. So, that would make live quite a bit more expensive.

Depends on where you play, I havent played live in years but the cost was equaivalent to buying the boosters plus a couple of dollars for store credit prize pool plus a rare redraft

OK, but if the 12 boosters the MTGO has in the prizepool are not in it when you are doing it live, it is costing you extra money to have to buy the boosters for every draft as opposed to the online draft where you can win about 2 packs per draft.

good rating is in the 1800-1900. range of rating is from 1400(big loser) to high 1900s low 2000s(sickos) its real hard to get to 2000. you need to not lose at all for a very long period. but it is doable if you are in a big event with higher K value or you win a lot of drafts.
