Esper is the best, but everyone knows that, so I usually end up Naya (which is probably the second best).

Oh wait, CCC drafts? LOL never mind. 5-color FTW.

Despite MODO being a piece of garbage all day today, I managed to buy some Conflux packs and get into a 4322 AAC draft with the intentions of forcing Esper Aggro. I passed on what would have been a solid Bant deck (let Naya Battlemages and Bant Charms go) and ended up with this:

It's not very good, but it's fast and has Scourglass to reset in the late game. I'm 1-0 right now, beating a 5cc deck. My draw in game three was:

T1 Illusionist
T2 Etherium Sculpter
T3 Battlemage + Gargoyle
T4 Battlemage + Gargoyle (first Battlemage got Filigree Fractured)
T5 Sedraxis Alchemist bouncing Rhox Charger, gg

Yeah, I lost in the semis when I went T2 Sculptor T3 Gargoyle + Sphere and got Branching Bolted, then I ran my Battlemage into the Flash Devour guy. I still would have won, but I took 4 damage from the Flash Devour guy when I was at 8 since I couldn't lose to Resounding Roar (opponent had 7 lands), and he had Soul's Fire. Next turn I would have cycled Resounding Wave and it would have been game.

I hate magic. Joining another queue...

I would have gotten into those, but I started too late and they sold out of Conflux Event Release packs. lols.

I <3 me a Dragger.

conjurer is in my top 3 as fav cards in the set go. amusing combos with scavenger drake, etherium astrolabe, glaze fiend

Yeah, I had no shots to pick up Scavenger Drake or Astrolabe. Passed up on a few Glaze Fiends. Obv good with Bone Splinters, of course.

Is your first comment for AAC and 2nd for CCC?

Going into a new format, I hate drafting the "best" deck, but usually people are clueless so I get stuff ridic late. I posted about my 1st CCC draft, and it was ridic. Traumatic visions is really good. The tempo of the U and B 3 drops is insane (especially sedraxis alchemist).

I dont know how good 5c would be. I guess with a small set, all the cyclers, and armillary sphere, it would work well. You dont even have to have a specific base color, since there is no 1 color that has more fixing than another at common.

I've decided that the new best deck in ccc is anything that's base green for the 2/1 pro artifact guy

Yes, it is.

On another topic, I beat a field of 92 people in a "Standard for a Mox" tournament today. Great success! I played R/B Sligh featuring Tattermunge Maniac. Decklist will follow after I eat Wendy's.

Yeah, he is ******ed. My buddy (Cedric) made Top Eight after I told him his deck sucks. Awkward...

Anyway, I typed up this short list for NorthwestMagic, so here it is:

Quote:
I'm sure decklists will go up by Tony and his crew, but I told Max I'd post my list.

I played R/B Sligh without Blightning. A real Sligh mana curve - not laden with 3-drops and Demigod.

4 Tattermunge Maniac
4 Figure of Destiny
3 Mogg Fanatic
4 Goblin Outlander
4 Hellspark Elemental
4 Boggart Ram-Gang

4 Tarfire (audibled into this last night over Incinerate when I watched Herberholz's Deck Tech video; very happy I did)
4 Magma Spray
4 Flame Javelin
3 Volcanic Fallout

6 Mountain
4 Ghitu Encampment
4 Auntie's Hovel
4 Graven Cairnes
4 Sulfurous Springs

SB:

4 Bitterblossom
3 Deathmark
3 Infest
2 Guttural Response
2 Wild Ricochet
1 Volcanic Fallout

My opponents were:

R1: Alex Scott, B/R Seismic Assault (Win 2-1)
R2: Franklin, 5cc (Loss 0-2)
R3: Bryan, Bant Merfolk (Win 2-0)
R4: Noah Weil, Obelisk.dec (Win 2-0)
R5: Akio Akazawa, U/R Swans Control (Win 2-0)
R6: Ryan, Jund Mana Ramp (Win 2-1)
R7: James, Faeries (ID)

5-1-1 gets me the eighth seed along with McDoogle (U/R Swans), BJ Zappelli (Blightning Sligh), Kent (R/W Reveillark), Namir (Mono-white Kithkin), James (Faeries), another R/W Reveillark deck, and another Mono-white Kithkin deck.

Quarters: Kent, R/W Reveillark (Win 2-1)
Semis: Namir, Mono-white Kithkin (Win 2-1)
Finals: He shipped the Mox since he wanted the playset of Onslaught fetch lands. Misearoo.

I made about three play mistakes that I felt were worthy of note all day, and I made a questionable error in the semis when I played Auntie's Hovel tapped as my first land rather than playing Ghitu Encampment and hoping to draw a Goblin spell (I drew Tattermunge Maniac) to be able to play something, but I had Deathmark and wanted to make sure I killed his Burrenton Forge-Tender on turn two if need be (I ended up killing Goldmeadow Stewart).

I was really happy with my deck overall - I think it is strictly better than midrange RDW/Blightning. I wouldn't change any of the cards if GP: Seattle was tomorrow.

No worries, I managed to go 1-2 in one of those AAC swiss pods with this deck. FML. I love drawing a lot of lands, apparently.

I managed to win my first 8 man draft last night (not too exciting but I only downloaded the game on Thursday)

I had a CCC deck B/U/w full of Zombie Outlanders, Sedraxis Alchemist and Parasitic Strixes which was quite unfair. That still wasn't enough to pull my rating above 1600 though

Sedraxis Alchemist + Parasitic Strix = great success

Remember that and you cannot lose

How much of LSV's run is luck?

I mean, its obvious he is a good player. But is he just running hotter than the sun? He won a PT, got 2nd in another, and won 2 or 3 GPs. Im not well versed in magic variance, someone put it in poker terms?

Kyle I really hate the court homonculus in that deck given how little white you have.

Whats in your SB?

I just had it in there to help loop Esperzoa and power Master of Etherium. Can't remember what was in the SB except Resounding Wave.

seems like he's always got an awesome deck for the meta and is probably the best playskill player right now...so while it's insane, I'm not sure by how much.

also, t16 at worlds too in this stretch
