yeah that advice on what to run is good. Both your green and red are only a cpl of cards away from being good. picking up a couple of warriors would make your deck nuts.

I played a game with the black/white deck that I won by the skin of my teeth. Lost the first game to not having any land, and then got nothing but land in the 2nd but then sucked out since he didn't draw any either. 3rd game I won, and turn 2 bitterblossom is pretty dope, although he still managed to give me a run for my money. I did make some misplays though, so I can still get better.

I'll give it another run tomorrow, and hopefully I can play the turn 2 bitterblossom some more, heh.

How easy is it to trade tickets and/or packs and/or online cards for real money?

Can someone explain to me how MTG online...works? Do you buy tickets to buy cards, or buy them directly, or what? I've been reading the feature articles on the website and I want to get into this but I don't know anyone who plays Magic in real life. And I really don't want to spend a lot of money so I can get my ass handed to me online.

You will probably get your ass handed to you at first.

You buy the cards and tickets directly for cash. $1 for an event ticket, $4 for a booster pack, like $12 for a tournament pack.

Don't ever buy packs and just open them. Use them to enter into tournaments or leagues, so that you have a chance to get some prizes out of them.

If you are new to magic in general, you should probably play with the starter/theme deck that they start you out with. It will also help you get used to the interface. You can play casual matches all day long for free in the newbie casual area.

After that, a league is probably a good idea (product cost, about $26). Unlike tournaments, you can play your league deck over and over during the league period. You can switch around your decklist etc as often as you would like. Leagues right now are only 1 week long, but you can still squeeze 50+ matches out of that week if you want to.

Once the league is over, you can sell your money rares for tickets, which you can use to buy new boosters etc off of other players.

Once you get better you will probably want to do some drafts and/or constructed 8-man tourneys. Probably drafts, since constructed will usually require a big investment into rares to get started. 8-man drafts cost 3 boosters + 2 tickets to enter, and they pay out either 8 packs to first and 4 packs to second, or 4-3-2-2. For a new player, the 4-3-2-2 drafts are usually best, since you only have to win one round to get 2 boosters, which is most of your investment once you count the rares that you open in the drafts as well.

You can trade and play online. You are only pretending to drive a car in a racing game.

So, so, little of a Magic card's value is in the physical cardboard. People complain about "What about when Wizards goes under" but if that happens you'll probably have more opponents on apprentice anyway.

Also it would appear there is a redemtion option if you collect the whole set, so you could get the physical cardboard option. Just would cost you a ton.

I have been playing off and on since Ice Age. Last time I moved, I had a box that wasn't worth the effort to sell and I didn't feel like packing them so I tossed them. I just don't have the social circles for table-top gaming anymore.
