RE: Trees, couldn't he have springleaf drum mana?

Shrapnel blast was always amazing for me when I played affinity, agreed its better than fire/frenzy.

Yeah, but that's the only source of green. Seems so awful.

Yeah, obv a mistake, but still semi-flashbackable

Replace Myr enforcer with Somber Hoverguard in that list, its seriously sick

your MD list is best one btw, and soulfire/fatalfrenzy or just the idea of going all in with atog in general is not that good

SB you should probably play grudges or risk getting blown out in mirror

I sweated Roddeman at the Pittsburgh PTQ he won and the Affinity mirror was all about the grudges.

Yeah, the mirror is all about the Grudge, but if I play that, then I get blown out by the Naya zoo decks running Kataki.

Dan faced a deck packing Kataki in the SB in the finals and won but it was so fast I'm not sure if it ever hit the board since I was BSing with PES people and didn't even see.

I bought like 160 tix tonight at .81 per. :facepalm for considering getting back into modo

Where do you get tix for that cheap?

Pyrite Spellbomb? lol

I buy them from a friend for about that much in bulk.

Pyrite Spellbomb wat

Somber Hoverguard sounds awful. I'll try it anyway.

To be honest, Pyrite Spellbomb (or Aether Spellbomb) might actually be better than Chromatic Star. It has been utterly useless outside of ramping affinity for me. As such, why not play Mishra's Bauble or a Spellbomb that I might use?

Also, isn't Hurkyl's Recall infinitely better than Ancient Grudge? Pick up your board, IMO.

Is grudge is strictly for mirror? Or does it come in for Jitte's and stuff? If the former, then yeah, that sounds pretty tight. I don't know why I've never seen it.

I seem to recall game 1 of the mirror being mostly about plated fliers, since each person generally has enough modular/plating tricks to keep the ground stalled up and/or keep creatures trading off for awhile. Thus hoverguard would be very good in a mirror-heavy metagame.

Some people run Hurkyl's Recall in their boards - and mono-blue Faeries runs it rather than splashing for Grudge. I dunno, it just seems better and less mana-intensive. I don't bring it in against Jitte since Ravager beats Jitte's triggered ability anyway and Path to Exile does enough work there as well.

Hoverguard sounds very good vs. Zoo and the mirror, I will say. I'll think about it.

I've seen a lot of lists running less and less Chromatic Stars, which supports my theory that they are not all that good. Pyrite Spellbomb may yet be the winner.

Oh, I see the card plenty. I meant I never see it in affinty SBs specifically for the mirror.

Enforcer is usually better versus traditional aggro decks, especially ones that contain shock effects.

Color requirements for the maindeck has gotten lower in the more recent iterations, but color requirements for the SB have remained high.

How bad a player am I that my favorite magic play is killing my own creature when someone tries to play Tendrils of Corruption?

Trying to work on a white deck so far. Pretty good against black since I'm playing Guardian of the Guildpact and Order of Leitbur. Also running Aven Riftcatcher, Martyr of Sands, Call to Arms, Holy Light (not getting used much), Aeiliopile, Razor Golem, Pacifism, and Oblivion Ring.

Needs alot of work, but I enjoy playing it more than my burn deck because there's actually things to do with blinking, etc.

Anyone else here considering GP: Chicago?

I would like to go to gp:chicago but i doubt i'll be there.

Oh yea

Shrapnel blast > Soulfire/Fatal Frenzy.

Have won many games with blast where soulfire/frenzy would have been in my hand.

Plus the 1R instead of 2R is huge.

Its just tilts me how stupid the people in charge of Magic are, WOTC I guess?

This game could be so huge. But they think it's a good idea to cut out leagues to try to force people to play more profitable drafts, all the while losing everybody that's not extremely hardcore.

Such short sighted suits.

I just downloaded MODO having not played Magic in years and I see that there is a new set online tomorrow.

Can someone tell me what is good to draft in Conflux x 3?

Exactly - I mean I was pretty content to drop 20 bucks to do a league or whatever it was because it was fun, and I liked playing. I'm never going to do a draft because I don't know what's good or strategy for that. Less 'intimidating' than a draft for a new player - more fun because you could just keep playing after your 5. I think I played 40 matches after going 1-4 (lol - it was funny to beat the 5-0 guys)

Pauper for me (sadly it seems that to do pauper, the rest of the cards I that are 'staples' will cost me 200 --- so not pauper. think I'll settle for my good, but not great 10 tix traded for cards.
