Re: Magic: The gathering Online

Just started playing this and im totally addicted, so much fun. Now I'm wondering if I should give some live drafting a shot. If I pretty much understand the online system should I be fine live?

Desertion was siiiiiick even for its cost. A good late game counter. My favorite always will be Force of Will though.

In experience, it is just like poker. Since the game moves faster and you see more cards online, players tend to be better. I really enjoy live drafting, because reading lots of casual players can give you a big edge.

Re: Magic: The gathering Online

Hi guys. Just thought I would drop a line on this thread, since I am logged onto MODO a lot. I am jvs on MODO. I pretty much only draft online, but I'm working on build a collection for classic as well.

I am usually looking to buy tix via stars as well. Feel free to drop me a line in game some time.

EDH = Elder Dragon Highlander. Someone with a little more knowledge can fill you in on the details, but it is a very casual format geared towards multiplayer, and many players don't really seem to be trying to win very hard. It's a favorite among Judges.

EDH would be an awesome format if it was heads-up and serious. But it's not. So it's stupid.

Yea, Multi is not for me. I much prefer heads up.

Go Black/Blue and hope you see a bunch of Phantasmal Fiends because it's by far the best common in the format.

Not true exactly, as all of the premium removal is better than fiend, but he IS probably the best common creature in the format.

Basically, drafting green 0% of the time is the key.

^^

Live mtg players are donks compared to online players especially at the FNM games. I get the most ridiculous stuff passed to me in live drafts and online the players generally know what they're doing.

+1

Same thing as poker, live is so much softer, but slower and it sucks to deal with real people.

Re: Magic: The gathering Online

I've been testing that naya block deck a bunch the past few days, and have gotten pretty sick results (constructed rating up 140 points, just won every single match in a daily event up until the finals where I lost to a 5 color aggro deck I've never seen before) I'm not usually a fan of aggro decks but the deck smashes everything in the format imo. (I'll post updated list if anyone cares)

I don't know if anyone here plays block at all, but here's some general metagame info. The jund/cascade/removal deck is good, but overrated. The bant deck is underrated. The 5 color aggro deck seems like it could be pretty sick if people catch on to it but it doesn't seem to be too popular as I have only ran into it once (noble hiearch, putrid leech, sedraxis specter, rhox war monk, jenara, bloodbraid, naya charm, not sure what else it runs). The aggro esper deck is good, but seems like it is pretty inconsistent. It's also pretty cheap to throw together.
