Drafted another good Esper deck, but I'm at work and I'm MODO'ing using MS Terminal Services, so I can't take a good screenshot (256 colors FTL). It is heavy in the four-drop slot (2 Cormorants, Sludge Strider, Gargoyle, Filigree Sages, Dragger, Mechanist, Resounding Silence) but otherwise good. Pretty sure I misbuilt it though; I am playing Sigiled Paladin over Brackwater Elemental. Even though I am heavy white, Sigiled Paladin just sucks (I have no tri-lands) and I am light in the 3-drops. Brackwater Elemental blocks big green dudes pretty well.

I hope to draft three times a week from work!

Ah why not, I screenshotted anyway. Not like you guys need to see the pretty colors.

+1 Esper Panaroma

Oh, weird. It only has 22 cards and it has Paladin + Elemental, which isn't right. This is from the deck editor afterwards. Ah well. You get the idea.

Oh wait, no, that's right. I played both. I sided in Controlled Instincts in the second game of my first match.

What do you guys think I should play over Paladin (if anything): Frontline Sage, Dispeller's Capsule, Resounding Wave, Shore Snapper (lol I know, just mentioning it), or Yoked Plowbeast?

Two people in HU constructed matches (Extended) are joining and conceding over and over and over repeatedly, every minute or so. I wonder if something is broken in the winnings...

I just drafted an amusing ccc deck. if I needed a pun title, it'd be lemme axe you something.

the highlight of the deck is 3 macta riders and 5 exploding borders. 4 sylvian bounty for either getting lands or gaining life so I can survive another turn to axe something.

LOL they are! HU matches are 2 tix to enter and the prize is a pack of Alara. Packs of Alara sell for 4.21 tix to a bot, meaning a 0.21 profit per match conceded if you collude. Awesome.

Wow, I just beat someone who played t2 Druid of the Anima t3 Knotvine Mystic AND had Volcanic Fallout and Titanic Ultimatum in hand.

I got into a stable position due to Brackwater Elemental and started looping Esperzoa/Faerie Mechanist, he got greedy and used Dispeller's Capsule to kill my Esperzoa (which he knew I'd get back with Gargoyle that I revealed); he then cast Fallout to wipe the board of everything when I recast Esperzoa/Gargoyle (he had Scattershot Archers) except his Wild Leotau, unlocking his Ultimatum (trapped under Tidehollow Sculler).

I unearthed Brackwater Elemental, attacked him to 2, and played a Tidehollow Strix at 5 life. He drew a forest, cast the Ultimatum, and I Resounding Silenced his dude. If he waits to EOT Dispel my Sculler when he can cast Ultimatum (he had at least 2 turns, maybe more if he draws a removal spell), he has a bunch of 1/1s to crush me. He got greedy/scared and went for the flashy kill when I had already shown him a Resounding Wave (sided another in) and Resounding Silence with 4 cards in hand.

Probably the best game of Magic I've played in a long time.

How does something sell for .21 tix?

Bots have memory now; if you haven't MODO'd in awhile, you will come back to find out the market is insanely efficient now. Bots save "store credit" and it accumulates over time when assigned to a given username.

One of the best games ever invented. Maaan, the times. I was literally shaking during limited drafts sometimes =)

I stopped playing after Scourge was released, but have often wanted to try it again. Just seems so much to research into with all that time passed since I last played. Also I didn't experience any of the version 2 crap of the software. Is it running stable these days?

Obviously he didn't go turn 4 Bull Ceredon, turn 5 Bull Ceredon, or you would have mentioned it. ("Fallout wiped the board.") Instead he started with what is effectively almost a double mulligan.

Huh? When the Naya deck can produce 395832985690238 mana on turn 4 of any color, that is usually quite bad. (He played a bunch of Wild Leotaus and other generic Naya dudes.)

He cast Fallout on turn 38. Do you think I was looping Esperzoa/Mechanist on turn four or something?

Today's draft:

Apparently half the draft is Esper; people are complaining in the draft pod about it. First opponent no-showed with an 80 card deck and a 1720 rating. Ding! Ship the 7 points and the packs.

Not sure how the whole draft is Esper given that I got a sixth pick Esperzoa and very late Gargoyles. My deck is nothing special, but I like Coma Veil more than most, and it was better than splashing for Soul's Fire and/or Necrogenesis.

double coma seems poor, I'd rather have 2 of the 4/5 blue esper dudes. as is, sculptor doesnt seem to accel nearly enough of your deck

note - 100% bombed

It's 7 AM. What is wrong with you?

Last edited by anononon; 03-03-2009 at 10:59 AM. Reason: i went 2-1 in the pod; should have been 3-0 but i didn't draw a fourth land for 4 turns

Today's draft deck:

Pretty good, though I hate drafting Jund in general. 2-0 in my pod right now.

It's not. It's sitting in the same place it's been for over a decade: in a hard plastic card case in a small cardboard box currently half way around the world from me. I wonder about my other stuff. I also have alot of baseball cards, comic books and other stuff from the same era. I was a collecting fiend!

3-0, even though I threw away a game. Opponent at seven, board is:

Him: Nacatl-Hunt Pride, some tapped guy with 2 enchantments on it (lol)
Me: Three 1/1 saprolings, Manaplasm, Nacatl Outlander

Hand: Sprouting Thrinax, Hissing Iguanar, something irrelevant

All I have to do is play Hissing Iguanar, making Manaplasm a 4/4, and attack with my squad. He has to block Manaplasm, then he takes 5 from combat and 2 from Iguanar. I played Sprouting Thrinax instead, attacked with not enough guys, and he played Asha's Favor on his Hunt-Pride and killed me.

Jesus, that was stupid. At least I won game three.

I guess this deck is probably really good, but I just don't like Jund in general. I had to take Dark Temper over Volcanic Fallout #2, lols.
