If you have PS3, Persona 3 and Persona 4 are downloadable via PS Store.

I also think Golden Sun is still amazing. It is for GBA. You can probably pick up the console and the first 2 games for around ~60$.
I should have probably been more specific sorry. Yeah I'm pretty much only playing on PC right now and rekindled my love for cRPGs recently. I played (And still playing) Pillars, Tyranny and Baldur's Gate (and also finished the Witcher 3 GOTY) so I was looking for something else to kinda complete the collection, with the caveat that it has to be on sale for 20€ or under (and be worth it obviously). I will probably slowly buy both the pillars expansion and Divinity, but in due time. I'm also interested in the shadowrun series, with one game currently available for 5€, so I'll probably get that one first if it's good. When the new Baldur's gate (SOD) game goes on sale, I'll probably play a megamod game of it (uniting all 3 games into 1). I even reinstalled Skyrim, because modded installs give it so much freedom (which I love) it's actually really engrossing.

Other than that, I put the JRPG JimHalpert reccomended in the wishlist and will try one when it's on sale. I also got good fun out of Cthulu Saves The World, but other than that I'm not hugely into JRPGs (at least for now), so there would be no reason to actually buy a console for them.

Thoughts yet on Persona 5?

Specifically for someone who has never played a game in the series

I bought PS4 and the game, but haven't started it yet. As I'm not much of console gamer I'm having hard time trying to figure a nice to place to sit while playing since my apartment is quite small.

Still playing NMS, recent patches have added a ton of content to the game.

Its a game that suckers you into playing it, then you are at an OH moment when you realise all its features are badly implemented, buggy and unbalanced.

Whilst you are in the suckered phase you will enjoy the game alot, once you have the OH moment expect to not start the game till the next patch/DLC, at which you will have a suckered phase all over again, another OH moment, then patch and repeat.

Deeply frustrated by this game and its devs.
Can you expand on this? I put about 30 hours into stellaris at launch and just picked it up again recently and I'm momentarily hooked again. Can't remember precisely why I got burnt out the first time and I'm curious what mechanics/features you consider unbalanced.

Well for example they put a lot of effort into factions and ethics and drift towards new ethics etc, but you can ignore all this content because it is trivially easy to keep your pops happy and inline.

Then there is a new system of traditions, which have big perks for your race and where meant to be a way of defining play style, problem is its way to easy to get them all so they lose any defining power over your empire.

End game crises has a bug making it the same one 90% of the time, the way AI responds to it is really patchy and hit and miss.

Fallen empires have this big war in heaven content where they goto war with each other and drag in all the new races into federations, which should be epic but most of the time it starts then stalls or fizzles out just does not proceed as intended and is a real damp squib.

AI starves itself on higher difficulties.

Ship design is meh, basically build one type of ship no need to differentiate, there all sorts of issues with the fleet combat.

There is a patch coming out tomorrow though.

Everything that was base game has been polished massively and there is a ton of new content, such as base building, hirable NPCs, ownable mega freighters, multiple ground vehicle types for exploration, different game modes, multiple ship ownership. New content patch is coming out shortly.

I don't think so. The main problems and complaints still remain. You are still just mining planets so that you can mine planets. Environments still don't have enough variety. End game still sucks. Nothing feels like it has consequence. I know some people are happy with the update but it's still not enough for the game to be interesting for me.

You must have only scratched the surface of the updates in a very superficial way.

Base building adds a ton of reasons for mining that is just not mining for mining and adds in a ton of satisfying process chains to get items and components that you need. Same can be said of ownable super freighters.

End game sucks is kind of like saying end game of minecraft sucks at this point,if you are playing NMS to reach an end game or feel the need to reach and end game then your doing it wrong/NMS is not for you. This is just not a very narrative driven game.

It's cool that a fundamentally broken game can be made great again with a patch

Trololololol.

Lots and lots of patches and then two massive content updates with more to come.

Its cool that you have such dogmatic opinions about a game you have never played....oh wait its the opposite.

Bleh I had no idea that PoE had 2 expansions out, are they worth it? I really didn't even enjoy the game that much due to the poor combat but still considering getting it.

Really enjoying Legend of Heroes btw, thanks for the rec Jim

Was watching my friend play Persona 5 the other day... looks like a whole lot of frustration. From what I gathered he entered the mind of his high school gym teacher because the teacher is a pervert and abuses people or something. Anyways 45 minutes into the mind/dungeon the main character got 1 shot and had to load his last save.

I think it's best that you wait till summer for the Fall of Oriath. With that expansion there will be just one playthrough over 10 acts and then you reach the endgame. And sub the Path of Exile thread for the hype.

It seems your mad defense seems backed up this time, recent reviews on steam are at 53%, that means the majority likes the game. I was not aware of this, sorry.

Lol at even having the perspective of "mad defence".

You have to be in such a weird place as a person to form that opinion.

Some people like things you dont, however you dont even know if you like the game because you have never played it.

Your opinion on it seems almost as formed as mine, which is weird again, as yea, you never actually played it.

Why would I want to play it? With all the drama? All the poor reviews? All the updates which are not groundbreaking but slight improvements? With all the comments regarding there's simply poor gameplay which is the most important to me? Why would I want to play it? I'll play it when it goes on sale for <5€, so no thanks.

Thats fine, but it does not explain why you would be so invested in insisting the game is bad to anyone who says they like it.

If you actually bought the game and played it, you would not come across as super weird as then your motivations would have some reasonable explanation.

Also bolded is just a factually incorrect statement.

When a company releases a broken or bad game, then that will color the perceptions of people down the road. That is not the fault of the people that refuse to play the game nine months later; it is the fault of the developer that chose to release the game in that state. I do not think it is out of line for anybody to refuse to pay money for NMS given the state that it came out in, regardless of any changes the developer has made in the last nine months.

The same can be said for games like the newest SimCity or Batman: Arkham Knight. You can defend those games all day, as they were fixed since their release, but the damage has been done. If you think that makes the people that refuse to play those games "weird", maybe you should reflect on why you are so invested on defending a game that is notorious for being mediocre.
