Oh man, I awoke a sleeping BEAST.

In the meantime, perhaps I will next see you at Skydock 19, where I can say the same about all of your scores.

(edit: oh nice, I beat one of yours already )

(edit 2: ugh I had a good idea for an optimization I could make to a level before going to bed last night, now today I forget which level and none of them ring a bell)

Traded a Steam key I didn't want for one I really wanted, picked up the Dirt freebie, and didn't want to let the rush go so I went and picked up the Humble monthly for XCOM 2 even though I wasn't really planning on getting it. Think I'm about to get addicted to trading keys.

With ever constricting region locks, now is not the time to get into trading.

Touché. Well it was fun while it lasted, I'll always have Kentucky Route Zero to show for my efforts. Guess I'll just go back to giving keys to friends and 2p2ers

Played Road Redemption for the 1st time in probably over a year.. The game is getting really good...Only gripe was that as of now they only support 360 controllers so I had to set up a joy2key profile for the game w/ my PS4 controller. looking forward to my dream of playing a modern day Road Rash online against 20 other people trying to poke me w/ a cattle prod as we race.

It has much much much much much better maps, Xcom1 uses pre rendered maps from a pool, they get old, Xcom2 has procuderally generated maps and they really work, much better weapons, better perks, much better enemy diversity, better mission diversity, better story, it just has better everything.

It also has much more strategic choice and flexibility at the strategic layer, Xcom1 basically had very concrete on rails optimum choices you had to take to hope to win on higher difficulty levels.

The turn thing can seem like an intrusion but really its good game design, it forces a pace into the game and stops the player using an unbeatable sneak and turtle strategy.

Xcom 2 was game of the year for me.
I'm going to be doing another play through soon, waiting for the DLC to all go on sale first.

I have heard that there is going to be a long war mod for XCOM 2, which makes me fear for my time. I thought XCOM with the long war mod was better than XCOM2 on release, but I fully expected XCOM2 to pass it (from my perspective) as it got DLC and mods (and it probably already has).

Great franchise. Firaxis is just killing it right now.

I finally got into this myself; trading crap I don't want for crap I don't have. The guys who want to trade games they obviously got for free one for one for like $10 quality games tick me off though but that's standard internet.

Seems like there's a free steam game every day out there (usually requiring twitter/facebook, I still haven't bothered setting up a dummy account for those); I'm glad we keep this thread to the "free but actually worth getting".

I've watched a lot of critics with their summaries of 2016 and one thing stood out in particular. A lot of top 10s had a relatively unknown game called Furi on their list. Mostly praised for brilliant gameplay, soundtrack (!) and aesthetics.

I watched the AGDQ run of Furi and thought it was one of the better runs I watched this year.
Game itself looked too frustratingly difficult for my taste but I can see how those who like that kind of thing would love it.

Did a lot of critics have Doom?

Furi was a free PS+ game and I thought it was great - challenging but fair. All pattern recognition and reflexes with simply getting better being the only way to advance.

Not sure why goofy asked about DOOM but so far I wish it had a little less Wolfenstein: TNO in its DNA, still very fun though.

Just wanna say I appreciate the heads up on free games and great deals. Picked up xcom 2 via the humble monthly for $12. I regretted not getting it for $30 during the winter sale, so this was awesome.

New HB isn't bad. BTA is worth it for Shadowrun and Victor Vran.

Currently $3.02
