Let's talk about Stream and buy mountains of games - Page 208 - Video Games

Bah, I was doing good with the Steam sale and had only bought the XCOM DLC for -75%. However, today started to break me. I picked up The Witcher, The Witcher 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, and To the Moon. I planned on grabbing The Witcher series, but the others were impulse buys.

They were all -75%, but I'm sounding like my wife when she blows infinite money on FILL IN BLANK "because they were on sale" even though they are still overpriced.

I thought about getting the original Witcher after buying the Witcher 2 but figured since it's a bit dated I'd probably never get around to it, especially with my queue getting larger and larger by the day (plus Civ5 sucking the life out of me).

Bought Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, I was pretty damn good at RT1 (i.e. crushing all the maps with max rep etc)

afaict, BL2 isn't going to be -75% bc it's "normal" sale price is -33%, so it seems the daily deal of -66% is the best you're going to get for now.

Probably same reason I paid $80 for Holdem Manager 2. Niche product without many competitors.

Not really. It's a game engine ( even if a more basic one ), so it's a pretty complicated program to develop and mantain, and it allows you to make money with it.

Unity doesn't cost 1500$ because it doesn't have competitors. Same with 3d Studio Max or Maya, just on a even bigger scale ( +4000$ ).

When we are talking competition between video games for their customers and any thing we just listed it's fair to say those programs don't have competition. I did not literally mean they had a monopoly.

I wonder what took more man hours to create RPG Maker or any of the AAA titles published for $60 (and now on sale for $5-$10). I'd bet plenty of video games took more work to make.
