Re: Let's talk about Steam and buy mountains of games

Torchlight is quite fun so far don't mind the graphics style one bit in fact I enjoy it

Being German it's in my DNA to be a huge point+click fan...I played a ton of them. Kinda sad I missed the Back to the Future sale
Telltale Sam+Max episodes aren't great. Pretty ABC and seem rather assembly line created kind of. Only played the first four I belive kind of not motivated to play more, got them all during some Steam sale. Huge fan of the original Sam&Max.

I enjoyed Torchlight in the beginning but it got way too repetitive and the non-existent plot sucks. Hopefully the second one is much better.

Yeah, feels to me like torchlight is just one of those games that's cool at the beginning but loses its luster pretty quick. There are roughly three quests, and when you finish one, the guy gives you a literally identical quest that's a bit deeper in the dungeon.

The randomization and the fact that the character classes can be taken in different directions still makes it worth getting on the cheap, but don't expect to be glued to it for days on end.

I use it as a great "filler game" - load it up once every few days, play for half an hour, get bored, play something else.

pc gaming can really suck.
so far of the titles ive finally downloaded: bioshock has the sound problem that alot of other users have had. cant seem to fix it. civV i cant start a new game, just play the one game i did start. theres seems to be little solutions on google. skyrim is having performance issues despite using less than recommended settings. LFD2 works fine!

You can usually work out the tweaks by going on the individual forums and posting your problem, what you've tried etc.. PC gaming can be frustrating with random errors and such but the juice is worth the squeeze all day.

I took a break from gaming and stopped enjoying all aspects of games for a few years after rinsing the same few things on consoles, then kicked steam up recently for the first time since like 2006 and it's made me realize how much more engrossing and enjoyable PC gaming really is. Plus it's much more convenient and the selection is huge, like there are a ton of games that will never get old and you can find legit 9/10s for dirt cheap.

i got the amazon bioshock collection the other day, and i was having sound problems as well. i had to update my drivers, then go into sound options and turn stereo mixing on. worked great after that.

It sucks that this is happening to you but this is a problem on your end, not Steams. The only issue I've had with Steam games is older games from the 90's or early 2000's playing on modern OS's/screen resolutions.

If you're having these kinds of problems with games like Skyrim and Fallout 3 though I think you need to evaluate your setup, the problem is probably not with the games that are running fine for 95% of people.

The Fallout 3 problem is actually widespread. Here are a couple fixes you could try.

you can use this site to check if the games are compatible with win7 if you do that and a quick google search with the game name + compatibility, problems, crashes.........you should be able to avoid the games with serious problems

I've been playing Cave Story (Indie Bundle I) and Dungeons of Dredmor (Indie Bundle VII) and have gotten my money's worth out of those two games without even having touched the other games in the bundle yet.
