steam related question

for some reason some of the game thumbnail icons don't show up, when i download the game i tell it to create a shortcut to the desktop and sometimes the icon shows up and other times it gives me that generic windows icon (see the Hitman games, CS:S etc)...anyone know why this is and how i can fix it? i'm kind of OCD about the folder setup and not having the proper icon bothers me

i've tried going into each games folder located in the SteamApps area and moving the game's .exe file into my game folder and sometimes it works, other times it won't let me do it

i know it was popular i just can't believe it still is... so many items lol doesn't even lmk what the stats were doing either. I think the game coulda been much better for me anyway if it had a tutorial.

The problem is that people under estimate the amount of time they actually have to play the games. in 2 or 3 years there are going to be other games to distract him and the discounted games would probably have been discounted even more. I mean its not like he's wasting a lot of money or anything, and theres way worse things to waste money on, but I just found my personal experience was that I was wasting money on a regular basis and over the course of a year you can waste a considerable amount of money on games you are never going to get full value for.

You could try right click/properties on the shortcut, then change icon->choose my own->navigate to the exe of the program in the steam folders->choose it and that should in theory give you the icon of the exe without moving anything around.

The fact that some of your icons just look broken though makes me wonder if this would actually work... worth a try anyway.

Also what's with the old school Windows 2000 look, lol?

although its pretty overwhelming when you first start (stuff is flying everywhere) its really fun once you understand whats going on. i like it because its more about accomplishing an objective than straight up killing players.

It has since been updated with a tutorial and you can play against bots on the maps to find your feet. It's a great game and still popular because almost everyone can find a class type they enjoy, so it ends up catering to a wide range of players.

In fact anyone unconvinced by Crysis should watch a few of Gunsmith's videos on Youtube.

I bought prototype when it released at full price - had a lot of fun with it. Probably 30+ hours I spent on it.

I think it's "just" the basic game. No expansion.

edit:
just checked it: only the basic game BUT the expansions are all 66% off making it 2,71€ each

Metro 2033 @ 50% of sure is tempting, BF:BC2 is also tempting @ 33% off but I know from experience how buggy DICE games are so I'm really not sure that's enough of a discount. I mean if it was 50% off it's an instabuy...
