found another shrine today. i think the developers chose the location just to **** with me.

Spoiler:
ice cave with leviathan. the shrine sensor picks it up form the cliff face, but there is no way to access it from there.

i would be more interested in the compendium if i didn't have to delete pictures every time i used the camera. there should be an option to just take a picture of something for the compendium but not save it to your album.

Seriously. It's a pretty big "take you out of it" moment to have to sit there deleting 40-50 pictures back to back so you can snap a photo of a random fish or whatever. Maybe excess korok seeds can give you more photo inventory?

I'm drawing the line at the compendium quest. It should've been done similarly to the memory main quest, something like you need to take a picture of a couple dozen elusive items/animals. Just too much work as it currently stands, for me at least.

there was a similarly annoying quest in the wind waker. i think you basically had to beat the game twice to complete it because you don't get the camera until late in the first play through.

There's an alternative way to complete the compensium guys, though it's also grindy. I havent done it but it seems doable and far less insane than finding all koroks.

Was it done in a single sitting?

i know the other way, but it seems kinda against the spirit of the game

Spirit, schmirit. Especially if I'm close in any group, I'm totally using that. I already have, I only needed like 7 pics to finish the materials group. It's way, way, WAY easier to rupee farm than figure out what weapon or enemy I didn't snap a picture of, probably because I was running the **** away at the time.

The other day, though, I was using the camera for something else and realized I had never taken a pic of a simple Bokoblin bat. Lord alone knows how many more really basic items I'm missing because I assume I must have taken a pic one of the other 100 times I've seen the damn thing., but haven't.

Finally got warblers nest lol

Was trying to do it with arrows originally (even got so desperate I was whistling in the direction of the holes)

Inventory was full and couldn't get the item and totally forgot about it

i found warblers nest before beating the eagle and tried standing on the platforms and throwing bombs through the holes

Beat the game tonight when I realized the slog to update all armor wasn't interesting enough to me.

Next run (which will start approximately immediately) I will:

Collect and upgrade all armor (except amiibo specific ones)
Max upgrade all weapons/bow/shield slots
Complete all side quests/shrines (I did all the shrines)
Kill all Lynel/Hinox/Moldoga/Talus
Collect all memories (did this)

There might be more. It's possible I'll go for all the Korok seeds but just upgrading all slots to the max would be a significant increase over my first run (122). I'm not sure if there anything else I'm forgetting.

Man I love this game.

I can't understand the benefit of a fresh start with the goal of (for example) upgrading all armor, instead of completing the mostly-upgraded sets you have already.

Or are you unaware you don't need to start again?

why do people do seasons in diablo 3?

some people enjoy fresh starts

seems to me like there's a big difference between a fresh start of a process and a fresh start of a collection

now I guess a lot of diablo 3 is collecting powerful gear but I can't imagine anyone saying "let's get rid of all my magic cards and start from scratch"

same with korok seeds

idk where upgrading botw armor falls but the question "why start over instead of continuing?" seems legit to me

Yeah I guess.

Really I'm just trying to understand - I'm not one to replay anything (outside of score/time attack games), or rewatch movies / TV shows much at all where obviously many do. So maybe it's just me. Or helping someone out that didn't know you can still play the same save after you kill Ganon.

Unless you're a completionist there isn't much point to upgrading your armor if you can't use it against anything. It's kind of like buying sunscreen on the way home from the beach. Doing it on a fresh start means you will actually see the benefits.

Armor and damage is almost completely broken though. They did the Dragons Dogma thing and it's kind of lazy. For example a white bokobolin holding higher level weapons will do more damage than calamity ganon. Then there's the issue of being overpowered and making the game too easy. If I had one piece of advice to anyone playing for the first time it would be to not upgrade at all on your first play through. Despite reviews, it's not a hard game, you might die a lot early but that's more a result of learning than the game actually being challenging. Once you die to something it's rare to do it again. The only thing that really becomes a challenge is Lynels and I think most here will agree that even they become a cake walk after you've played enough. Early in the game it felt like everything was a threat but that feeling didn't last that long.

I'm aware.

I'm a replayer (and re-reader/watcher). I was going to do another run anyway, so knowing now what items I need to start collecting from the beginning will space out the grind, which is more appealing than just grinding away for another 20 hours then finishing off Ganon.

This game is so good/fun that it deserves to be replayed. I just beat the final boss a few days ago (had 104 shrines, 94 seeds), and at the time I was super eager to do a second run.

I don't know if anyone remembers when they first completed ALTTP and OOT, but I can remember at the time that I was hoping to see a Zelda-1 message like "a new quest will start from here" and being slightly disappointed that that wasn't the case. So I understandably can't wait to see what the DLC "new original story" will bring - my initial guess is that those few "You can't go any further" areas will open up.

Figured I'd try a 3-heart run next (with no Divine Beasts). I'm not good enough to go straight from the Plateau to the Castle; the max armor I'll get will probably be a single upgrade of the Soldier gear. I'm guessing that's still going to get me one-shot KO'd from Guardians and Ganon, but it should still be fun.

Having just as much fun on run two.

I need to do a massive map unlock session, though, I've only done three areas thus far and in order to get started on all the upgrades I need....well, pretty much every area other than like two or three I could put off.

Really need to do the Lost Woods, now that I'm grinding Korok seeds (last run I was usually within five seeds of my shrine count, ended up 112 seeds to 120 shrines, this run I'm at like 74 seeds and 27 shrines currently) I could use the space upgrades much sooner, which would be fun.

Underrated reason to open the map, finding Rito village would allow me to rupee grind apples, which for some reason was one of my favorite ways to get rupees.
