I mean, why couldn't you parry them in the shrines if you can in the overworld?

Need to, no, not in the shrines. But I figured it would be a good place to practice if a shrine had one. And in the strength test ones, the guardian will eventually start lasering towards the end. Would be nice to just parry it back to finish it off, although it's fairly easy to dodge since it's stationary at that point.

Speaking of shrines, I'm finally past the halfway point. Something I find kind of odd:

Spoiler:
I find the determination of whether or not a shrine is going to have a trial or you just get rewarded for getting there is a bit off in spots. Granted, for some it makes complete sense to have no trial if the shrine quest itself was fairly involved. But I had one the other day where I assumed the shrine would be chest/orb only but wasn't, and today had a really easy one to find NOT have any challenges or puzzles in the shrine. Specifically the shrine on one of the eyes in the skull lake in Akkala - all it requires to find it is a couple stamina upgrades so you can float there. Just thought it was weird that a shrine that easy to get to would be empty sans rewards.

You can parry some of the beams from the ones in the shrines but not all. If you want to practice parrying guardians then I recommend you just go to the stationary one at the great plateau and do the save and load thing noodle mentioned.

RE: shrines

Spoiler:
I believe the shrine thing is if it has a quest or not attached to it

Nah I've had puzzle/combat shrines that had quests attached and shrines with no quest just be nothing. It just seems inconsistent. The skull island one doesn't have a quest for example.

Spoiler:
The Skull island shrine does have a quest attached to it. You get it from the weapon maker's wife at the far northeast corner of the map. She basically just tells you to go find it, but its considered a Shrine Quest.

Speaking of Shrine Quests, the Labyrinth is a ton of fun, and escaping the final section where you get the guardian armor is tense as hell.

Oh I just found the skull island one, didn't know there was a quest involved.

Yeah when the guardians all woke up that was one of the coolest parts of the game.

Keep searching the map if you like labyrinths

Just beat a Lynel and got this beast. Easily the strongest weapon I've seen in the game.

I just noticed/found the labyrinth yesterday and I beat it easily. By just flying over and staying on top. You don't actually have to go through the maze at all. Although I'm sure I missed some treasure doing it that way, I did get a big flame sword, whatever was in the shrine itself, and the circlet from the graveyard. I figured out you could climb the other one after the fact, so figured why bother with the whole maze thing, particularly a maze you can see the entire layout of anyway?

You missed a bunch of treasure. About 40% of dead ends gave you ****

Unless that treasure was thousands or rupees or a seriously bad ass weapon, I don't really care. Stuff like ore and lower amount of cash I can find elsewhere.

I was like, huh, wonder if I even need to do the maze or I can just hop around on top and sure enough, I could. I like that the game devs even have that as an option. I get lost easily (in real life as well) so mazes tend to frustrate me.

I had the game glitch out on me for the first time today. Not a frame drop or anything, a complete wtf kind of thing. I was near Kakariko foraging when I got the blood moon animation. It was 4:30 am game time, not midnight, and I had just had a blood moon like two game nights prior. Then it went black screen for maybe 45 seconds and started working correctly again. Quite strange.

There is an issue with the Switch in sleep mode screwing up the time in game. Shut it all the way down every once in a while and it will fix this.

My controller randomly starting bugging out yesterday, spinning me in circles. Detached the joysticks and same thing. Reattached to the handheld screen and everything works fine there. Weird stuff

Are you playing with the joycons? If so then the left one has a known problem where it messes up. If you send it back to Nintendo they fix it with a piece of foam that seems to do the trick.

I had that blood moon glitch happen to me last night

the one where it has repeated blood moons in the same night

some of the chests in the shrines are quite tricky.

it took me a long time to figure out how to get the second chest in the shrine near the lakeside stable.

Spoiler:
you have to use magnesis to drop the first metal chest on the stone see-saw while link is standing on the other site and then glide over. if you don't lift the chest high enough or don't hit in the right spot, it won't work.
Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Quote
03-30-2017 , 10:18 PM
yeah, the chests are often a lot harder than the shrine

pretty fun though

Spoiler:
that one is particular was kind of annoying because even if you have the right idea, it can take several tries

as good as the physics in this game is, it seems kind of arbitrary and inconsistent in this instance

I wish shrine chests had better rewards, usually it isn't worth the effort
Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Quote
03-30-2017 , 10:40 PM
yeah, it's usually just an opal or something but I can't stand not having the chest icon for a shrine
Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Quote

If the chest is just too much trouble (which is of course completely arbitrary and can be different on any given day) I'll leave it, but I'd say the vast majority of my shrines are fully cleared.

I killed two Hinox today via the awe inspiring method of standing on a ledge over them and raining down bombs and bomb arrows until dead. I am a stud. If for whatever reason you need Hinox parts, though, it's not a bad idea to mark a location or two to return to after they respawn.

A minor control complaint (spoilers for side quest):

Spoiler:
I have the house in Hatento, and I wish you could just swap an equipped weapon with a display weapon instead of having to drop inventory and pick it back up.

I think you know a game is good when grinding for supplies doesn't really feel like a chore. I'll just be jogging along to my destination then I see that sparkle of something collectible and the next thing you know it's two hours later and I forgot where I was going in the first place. Also one of the reasons I almost never horse - I'm having too much fun running around, climbing all the trees and scaling all the cliffs.

Finally I feel like a real moron, but I just found the inventory sorting button today.
