I've played maybe 60 hours now(fml) and I've used a horse maybe 4 or 5 times and for like 10 mins at a time. I only have 2 ****ty horses that I caught at the start of the game. I've just been running, climbing and gliding everywhere. Not sure if doing it right or doing it wrong.

Yeah I should have added that I'm upgraded big time. Have most clothes to level 3. The last fairy was a pain in the ass to find and when I got there I didn't have enough rupees to pay. Still haven't unlocked it.

Yeah, i wish horses were more a part of the game as well. Too many hills and mountains they simply can't climb. Mine has been in the stable for awhile now.

It's fun to para-sail off a mountain and land on a wild horse.

The one time I tried that I got a swift kick to the face.

Horses in this game are the anti-skyrim horse: whereas skyrim horses let you climb vertical mountains, BotW horses can't even step over small rocks. It's odd, because otherwise I really like how horses are implemented in this game.

As far as grinding the coinage for great fairies, and apologies if I've asked before, should I be selling all these gems I get? Some say they have crafting uses for armor but I dunno how or when that comes into play.

Yeah was gonna say you need better amour if a lynel kills you in one hit. I think a hit from them takes like 3-4 hearts off me.

I use horses quite a bit but I never use fast travel except for when I've done 4 shrines then I go to the goddess statue in kakariko, fairy there for any upgrades then back to the shrine I came from. Oh and occasionally I fast travel to akala tech lab cos it's a trek from most places but I quite like riding up there.

About 17-18 hours in and have seen horses like 3 times total at most (not counting the ones in stables). I haven't necessarily gone out searching but I figured I'd see more out and about. It doesn't bother me as I seem to find more stuff running on foot.

3 dungeons down, Goron is the only one left and then I need to decide if I want to farm shrines to get the sword or just tackle the end with only 9 heart containers after I beat Goron lol.

Stopped being lazy and used the google:

http://www.ign.com/wikis/the-legend-..._Money_(Rupees)

Seems there's a fairly exploitable minigame for rupee farming. Guide shows what gems are used to buy and upgrade which armor.

The last Lynel I ran into was in the mountains, I couldn't swap to my armor or I'd start freezing. Guess I could do armor plus warming elixir or whatever. Or just find a Lynel that isn't in a frozen tundra.

Which armor set is that? Just killed my first today with the lvl 1 barb armor (cant upgrade w/out lynel horn), and he took about 7-8 hearts per hit.

Also, upgrading armor only adds defense? No other stuff available?

Not sure, I change clothes a lot and don't really keep track. I often wear the clothes with special abilities but my highest numbers are 18 at the minute for soldiers armour at level 3 I think. 3 or 4 might have been a slight exaggeration but I have about 12 hearts and a lynel I was fighting last night took less than half my hearts with a hit so seems about right. Maybe it was just a weak lynel, was one near zora's domain that a zora wanted a photo of.

Yeah my highest is the soldiers at 18 as well. I've unlocked all the fairies except the last one and none of them have given other abilities to armour yet.

They're all over the place and different types of them, some stronger than the other.

Rupee farming I am probably going to do to get some coin to buy the heat armor on top of the one you get from the side quest.

Spoiler:
Lurelin village just NW of Gogobi shore is a betting game. Save inside and then bet 100. If you open the chest for 300 save and repeat. If not reload and try again...seems pretty easy and fairly quick.

I'm not sure how many fairies there are but I've only unlocked 3 so far. I have only got one set bonus but there are various items of clothing that give abilities without having the set.

Yeah I know there's clothes that give abilities, I'm saying I haven't found anyway to add abilities to clothes that don't have them.

Cooking meat seems to be the easiest way to make money quick. It's so easy to come by and you can get the same result from fruit but fruit gets you much less rupees when you sell.

To each their own, and that there are so many different ways to play and enjoy the game is great, but save-quitting the gambling game seems outside the spirit of the game to me. I've bought all armour I've come across plus the 3k house and quite a bit of ancient gear and never had a need to farm rupees. I just sell a load of **** when I come across a merchant. Having said that I explore everywhere, pick up everything I come across and kill all enemies etc. so I guess I do a load of farming actually just without realising it, and I understand that not everyone wants to spend a bunch of hours just wandering around not doing all that much.

Really? It's possible but I saw a video on what I am talking about and it looked pretty darn fast with the only slow aspect being re loading.

I'm sure you know this but the fairies give set bonuses to some sets if you upgrade them twice. Only one I have is the
Spoiler:
sheikah set
which
Spoiler:
makes you walk/run faster at night.
I don't think there are any ways to add abilities apart from that but I could be wrong.

Yeah its fast but also a super boring grind when you could go smash up some bad guys for some ez drops. All you need is one of those black stone smashing hammers that are everywhere, and you are in bidness.

Theres 2 right in gliding distance of tabantha tower (directly west in the big crater, and one directly on the road north). Just those 2 alone after every red moon will be plenty of extra cash.

Basically every red moon I do this and go farm the guardians at central tower for their parts (hide behind walls and use bow/arrow).

Thanks for the B button suggestion. That has vastly improve my quality of life. I woke up this morning and played about two hours in bed on the Wii U gamepad, don't see the point of a switch if The wii can do the same thing basically

I seem to be constantly out of rupees but i'll figure that out. This world is huge but feels kind of empty, especially villages

Enjoying it a lot so far though. I disagree with the reviews saying this is an easy zelda title, I think it's way more difficult than the last few. I am scared of like everything.

Combat isn't as hard as Horizon, but it's still very satisfying. You can't just go Rambo everything, at least not early on.

Spent my first 8 shrine coins on hearts, man that seems to have been an enormous blunder in retrospect. Last 5 upgrades into stamina. Stamina just seems to be so much more important and useful.

Only if you count the one that is not really a fairy and has nothing to do with clothes! You'll have people looking desperatly for that last fairy with posts like that

It just works in a realistic way imo. It takes some practice to make it work and even then it's still unreliable.

i meant for a zelda game. but even for a normal adventure game, i'm dying a lot more than i usually do. And i completed the ocarina of time uber challenge (3 hearts, broken giant sword, no jar usage, no shield, death count 0 on completion, etc.) more than once
