Reviews flying in, currently at 98% on metacritic and 98.16% on gamerankings based on 51 and 31 reviews respectively. Got a 10 from gamespot which gave skyward sword like a 6.5 or something iirc.

That pic is a little sneaky, I don't actually have the console yet, just the game and a pro controller(it feels really nice). Picking up the console in an hour.

Kind of want to read reviews but I'm so close I think I should just go in fresh.

Man I'm so hyped, not sure if my body is Reggie.

Only downside is the site I order from always delivers a day or two early but I got an email saying they're delivering Switches on release day.

I read the blurbs on metacritic with a tear in my eye.

Don't own a Nintendo system currently. Will be furiously updating this thread to see if I should buy a Switch purely for this game.

I'm about 2 hours in, already blown away by a few things.

Kotaku Review makes it seem like a console is a must buy even if I only buy it for this game.

Speedrun so far is at about 50 minutes (without beating the boss). I think I'll go the opposite route and actually enjoy the full game the way it was meant to be played lol. I'll be curious to see what a 100% run looks like time wise with all those shrines to go through.

Holy **** it's at 98 on Metacritic. That's nearly unheard of

They look nearly identical until the last few seconds where the colors are different.

First shot or two have some better anti-aliasing, but that's about it.

lolol nintendo just needs to give up on consoles. They're all gimmick and no firepower. On a few of those shots I preferred the Wii U look more.

Yeah, some of the blue glowing effects looked better on Wii U to me.

I'm trying to imagine a world where any other game's entire crafting system was just cooking and maybe health potions. I don't think you craft armor in this game, right?

More extensive than any other Zelda game, sure, but that still isn't very extensive. I think people would laugh at any other triple A game that touted such a basic crafting system.

Just a few hours left until I can pick this up. Have to admit I'm pretty excited given the hype and reviews.

I'm trying to think of another title where people are openly hating on random stuff where they haven't even played it yet. The game so far is one of the top 7 video games of all time on metacritic and this is the posting we get? Alrighty.

Tone down the fanboyism there. It's not a personal attack on you to criticize a game.

It's just your opinion that an intricate crafting system is a positive things, and many will agree with you, many won't.

watching a twitch stream, the game looks awesome. But not only is not on whole other level graphically compared to the wiiu, the streamer is complaining about some trouble rendering the whole world on vast open areas. ffs nintendo, stop making hardware

Just watched a bit of a few streams. The scope of the world looks extremely impressive, looks like you can spend hours upon hours wandering around just exploring and doing stuff which is cool.

Something about the menu system Link uses to select items and powers and stuff turns me off, it's so well, modern looking and sounding, doesn't seem Zelda'ish or adventurish or anything, same thing with the blinky radar icons and stuff, there's a lot of stuff that just looks leftover from Spaceship Zelda.

Game I've watched is mostly no-music, which also is non-Zelda'ish but fits the theme, the world itself is supposed to be the star of this game.

They definitely made a different sort of Zelda game this time around.

If I went into the Horizon thread and said "haven't played it but this mechanic seems meh and Zelda looks better" then I doubt it would be appreciated by posters there. Criticizing the game is all good and I'll probably do a bunch of it in the next few weeks, going to give it a fair go first though.

Crafting seems pretty deep to me although I agree it doesn't seem like anything revolutionary, just really well done.
