Re: League of Legends

OMFG!

My second ranked placement match and I get fed as Kassa. We are behind though and my just decides to surrender cause we're behind. We had a decent chance of a comeback since I pretty much instagibb Ezreal. So ****ing tilted!

That being said, omg dat teamcomp. I first pick kassa, our second pick takes olaf and says top, our third pick takes fiddle and refuses to jungle. Then we get panth and kata... like wtf???

This is so wrong. By this standard poker is a really easy game.

Also, For every argument for why sc2 is harder, it can be the inverse and still be true. Which is what everyone saying it's harder is missing.

- sc2 requires more APMS and complex strategies, making it harder for you to win
- LoL requires less APMS and complex strategies for your opponent, making it harder for you to win

you're playing vs an opponent. You're on a level playing field. The skill cap is infinite. Anything that fits these criteria will never be any harder or easier than anything else that fits these criteria.

Anything that is harder to play at a competitive level is that way as a function of the high level participants driving the competition to that higher level.

Re: League of Legends

Even if there is an infinite skill cap (and there isn't of course, but we can say there is because of human limitations), any game in which you can reach a level that lets you compete with the top players in either a shorter time or with less skill required than another game should be considered easier. Isn't that what we mean by a game being easier? If not, then the only other reasonable definition would involve level of competition. Any definition that says all pvp games are equal in difficulty is poor, and I hope this isn't just a semantics argument anyways.

Even though there are much more call of duty players than quake players, it is a shorter climb to the top of the cod ladder than quake. It's also less skill dependent and there are more people who could potentially make it to the top of cod than quake. If we assume this is true (it probably is, but I'm not here to prove it), then shouldn't quake be considered a harder game than cod, independent of whatever success rate people win games against other players?

Re: League of Legends

my intuition says SC is "harder" than League

so my internal definition is not the same one that falls to the argument "it's a PvP game". I think more of the skill in SC comes down to mechanical things which are easy to see whereas a lot of the skill in League is higher level strategy that isn't so obviously impressive. You can look at a pro SC game and go "man, i could never micro like that", but with League you're never gonna be like "man, I could never champ select that well".

Basically what i'm saying is i think the skill in SC is more apparent so the pros look more skillful
