I think you will get all the champs up front, but there will be micro payments that you can buy to get in-game items that help (like pay 50 cents at start of game and you get X item; that's what I've heard anyway).
As far as interface, I'm not sure what ImsaKidd means exactly, but it could be a few things, and I can't say he's wrong. The camera scrolling felt very awkward to me at first. Like, it's hard to have both yourself and your opponents on the screen sometimes in the laning phase. The shop is also clunky (not that LoL's is particularly less clunky), and the courier takes getting used to (but is an improvement over no courier). On the other hand, spectator mode is infinitely better than LoL. You can literally watch high level games all day inside the client with full vision of every player and multiple camera formats. And on my slow PC, Dota 2 runs better/loads faster.
For me it's just a more complex and deep game. The whole idea of going back to a meta that is set in stone as tanky DPS top, AP mid, ganky jungler, and ranged AD carry + healer support bot, seems crazy when you could play Dota instead where there is lots of variety. And although I liked LoL's cartoony graphics, Dota's clean style has won me over.
(Sorry if anyone thinks I'm douching up the thread by talking about Dota, I happened to check in yesterday and wanted to be helpful and suggest people give it a shot when they get a chance.)
