I'm thinking about trying LoL. What's the best way to get up to speed?

As for my background in the MOBA genre, I played quite a bit of HoN in the beta, and zero DotA. I started back on HoN a couple days ago (was bad then, am worse now), but they've added like 30 new heroes I don't know anything about. I figure if I'm going to have to learn dozens of new heroes, maybe I should be playing the more popular game.

Compare/contrast with HoN? Or has that topic been played out. I haven't even skimmed the prior #4726 posts.

WW is a massive mana whore you really have to build around his Q to not have it just be a sustain spell

even with blue buff you run out of mana super easy in the jungle

I think Udyr is the same way if you have to switch into turtle a lot

Sion even with the buff and mana regen yellows can easily run out, though get blue and crush face despite only have 2abilities

just put up a monster 14/1 game with Sion, bottom with support Sona, Graves went top for some reason, man that stun + shield combo is so absurd

So frustrating when you enter your draft lobby for ranked and last person to pick calls out that he is mid or solo top.

And then if they don't get it they feed

Watching that hon lol comparison made me miss some things about hon like the champs with passive skills with no active <3 swiftblade and I didn't realize lol was in love with skill shots.

I was going to get Morg since she's cheap, but think I'll save for Kass. I want Brand, but hes too damn expensive.
