League of Legends

Anyone playing this game? It's a free (sort of) Hero based rts style game, similar to DOTA.

It's sort of free in that it has 30 or so champion characters to choose from but they only give you 8 or so to play and rotate them every week. If you like a specific character you can buy game points (like microsoft points for xbox) and purchase your favorite champions, or you earn points just by playing and can eventually purchase characters with those.

I've been playing a few days now, it's pretty adictive.

Re: League of Legends

If you searched you'd find there was a post a while back but the consensus here is not many are playing it.

I play fairly often and you can add me as friend if you want. LittleMercyEh or NoMercyEh

Re: League of Legends

If anyone is wondering, a lot of people I know are playing it and like it immensely, and it's free. Give it a shot and give it some time. As you get better, you'll realize it is pretty intense.

Re: League of Legends

I've been curious about this one myself. I guess it's pretty much DOTA 2 as a lot of the same guys are on board. Is HON just a port of DOTA?

Re: League of Legends

League of Legends has more differences to dota than HON. HON seems like almost a direct port with some updates. League is more fun than HON imo, but I only played HON a little when it was open beta.

Re: League of Legends

I've been playing this for the last few months and I'm surprised it hasn't caught on in this forum. As far as I can tell it's pretty popular.

Re: League of Legends

The more time that goes on and the more I play it, the more i like it. In fact, it's the only game I'm really playing right now. I'm playing an AD Shaco character. So much fun. I went 21/2/15 last night. lol

Re: League of Legends

I've only been playing for a few days but i'm doing pretty well so far just trying out new heros. Most of the people i've played so far are terrible.

Re: League of Legends

Is there any permanent kind of experience accumulation that would make this like an mmo?

Sort of yes. When you create your account it, the account is level 1. You can choose different heroes to play in your matches. During the course of the match your hero levels from level 1 to level 18, win or lose your hero always starts a match at level one.

But your account levels up slowly from level 1 to level 30. You get your xp for playing, win or lose (more for winning). As your account levels you open a talent tree (like world of warcraft), and can choose to specialize in some general things.

You also open up a rune book, which lets you "equip" stat bonus type buffs.

You also gain access to different summoner spells. Besides the spells/abilities the hero you choose has (everyone has 4 different ones) you get to choose 2 summoner spells before the match. These are mostly utility type spells.

That was probably clear as mudd.
