Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

I am loving it so far. The combat system makes it super engaging!

The richness of the texture is nice too. The storyline seems a little too cartoonish to me, which I personally hate, but some really like it. For the most part I just select the blue text and move on.

The game itself is not really ground breaking in any sense, but it is really enjoyable. For me, it is basically everything I loved about fable (made better) and the things I love about skyrim (without all the needless crap)

For the guy mentioning the difficulty level. I watched a little bit of the day9 live stream group. There is one dude that has his toon up to like level 20, and the combat in his stream is WAY more intense!

About three and a half hours in and I think this is fantastic. It's pretty much a GTA/Skyrim combo with a God of Warish combat style. I am enjoying it more than Skyrim so far tbh but there could be a burnout factor there.

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Pretty disappointed with the loot tables and difficulty so far. I'm level 14, and I've yet to find anything above level 7 requirement to use. I'm mostly finding (I'd say 80% of items) gear that requires level 1-4 still.

Sounds like you're playing on normal (which is like very easy). Bump it up to hard. I'm about 10 hours in and yet to die. I've spammed lot of potions though because mages are squishy. What spec is everyone using? I've dumped all my points into the sorcery tree so far. Thinking of respeccing to might though, but I don't have any gear.

Spoiler:

Apparently they're already addressing the difficulty issues. Schilling said in an interview that they're working on a patch to make it more challenging.

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

ya, I was going to mention something about the difficulty being addressed by curt. He was on the Day9 stream and mentioned that it is a common complaint. I have a feeling all they will do is up the HP/dmg of the mobs. I kinda hate that cause it is not really harder strategically, just more of a grind.

Playing a stealth/magic hybrid

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Im about to pick this up after playing the demo. Combat system seems inspired by Dark souls like you have shield blocking, escape rolling etc. To the ones who are into the full game, are there lots of boss fights, sub bosses etc., how difficult does it get?

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Haven't encountered too many bosses yet (maybe 4 or 5) and I'm about 14 hours in I believe. I have not pursued the main quest much though. The only difficult thing for me so far is that certain mobs one hit KO me (or damn close + getting hit by another mob simultaneously). Compared to dark souls it is nothing though. You can easily die in just a couple hits, but even on hard the AI is not that aggro so this rarely happens.

What are guys finding wrong with the UI? I think it's pretty nice. Playing on PS3.

It looks bad on the PC version, since it's a console port (at least the demo did). Only thing I dislike is only having 4 skills readily available to use. As a caster I'm highly dependent on my abilities (obv) and having only 4 mapped is a pain.
