Hi guys,

I'm a microstakes grinder and I haven't played a video game in maybe years, the last one I've played was Crysis, which I loved.

I'm buying a new PC and I'm looking for a distraction between sessions. What would you recommend?

I can't narrow it down because I don't like any type of game more than other. For instance, I loved FinalFantasy VIII, Metal Gear Solid, Command and Conquer, Gran Turismo 3, Crysis, Diablo II...

Give Team Fortress 2 a try. It is really fun, easy to pick up and put down, and it is FREE. I bought it 5 years ago and still fire it up.

I didn't play Crysis but Crysis 2 was a real good time so definitely pick that up.

Give Dues Ex: Human Revolution a try. Picked it up after seeing several people recommend it on these forums and am really enjoying it about 5 hours in. Should be able to pick it up on Steam on the cheap.

call of duty, madden, need for speed, ssx, ffxxxx, random strat gamexxx.. any franchise game really. Get a 1yo version for 20 bucks, and play tons of hours online and off.

Counter strike and NASCAR racing season by papyrus imo.

Make sure your computer has fat specs so it's not immediately pwned by new graphics intensive games in the near future imo.

And get a CRT monitor if you want more than 75 fps.

Thanks for all the help. I've seen gameplay videos from all the recomendations. I think I'm gonna try Crysis 2.

You really haven't told us what kind of game you like the best. For example, someone that loves MMORPGs is going to hate something like the Bioshock games (which are both great btw). Until you do that, its practically impossiburu for us to tell you what you might like. There are just too many solid titles for all genres of video games.

I would also recommend DeusEx Human Revolution, especially if you like Metal Gear Solid because the stealth elements are very similar. In Fact, I'd say Human Revolution is much better than MGS4, though MGS4 has one of the best endings ever.

If you haven't played Skyrim yet, then you have to get that game. Skyrim is a big deal.
