Looks like Dragon Lord will be the next tier to sell out, 8 left.

I wish they would give Grand King an extra draft/week. A bunch of people would pledge it and it would free up some Pro Player tier slots.

when do we expect the value of set 1cards to peak? probably like within the first month right before the market gets flooded with a bunch of the better rares?

I think Set 1 will be pretty low value, just because lots of people will have set 1 boosters. I think for the first 2 or 3 weeks certain rares will be worth a decent amount and then go down.

I'm hoping Primal Packs are crazy expensive at first so I can sell 1 or 2 and not worry about draft fees again.

EDIT:

3 new stretch goals released. First was already completed when it was released and the second is done now. 1 more goal until we start unlocking the uncommons.

I've never really played a TCG apart from very casually playing yu-gi-oh and pokemon with friends at high school but have always been very interested and have been following this quite closely. I was considering getting pro-player and then the last ~300 went when I was asleep a couple of nights ago. I'm now considering getting grand king since it seems great value but it's a lot to spend on something I won't see anything from for a few months at least.

What do people think the return would be if I ended up not enjoying the game and just sold everything from the bonuses? Seems like the cards from drafts would be $3-4 a week (maybe more if the only aim from them is getting rares, not trying to win) and the spectral lotus is maybe a couple of dollars a week as well if I log in every day. No idea how to value the collector bonuses but I'd guess it's minimal relative to the other stuff.

The game boards are minimal and the 10 dungeons don't specify at launch, so they could get away with delaying them if they have to. Full launch is probably a year or so away as well, so if they had to they could probably just leave the game in beta until they had everything they promised for launch ready.

I heard something like that (although can't remember where, maybe the ks video?), but I was assuming beta != launch, and the trend nowadays seems to be for games to stay in beta for a long time (Dota 2 being the most extreme example).

Yeah they mentioned in the stream yesterday that beta is still on for September. Beta is going to be mostly PVP though, you'll be able to draft/construct decks/etc but most of the PVE stuff is going to be put in at launch.

So currently I have Pro Player x2 and King x2. Going to upgrade one of my PPs to Grand King again. Anyone want the Pro Player?

Switching during off-hours would be best anyway. I'll hang on to it until we can work a time out. Only way I'll just upgrade on my own is if there is a run of GK and its in danger of selling out, but that shouldn't happen for a couple days.

Their latest update said their stretch goals are a...stretch. They are going to try to get in as much as they can, but some of their goals are way off. They are already giving the impression that they may not be able to get everything in at launch.

I mean in the end it's going to be a TCG... if you hate TCGs you may not like this game, the allure of a TCG is the deckbuilding + competitive atmosphere around creating cool/interesting combos and beating the !@_$( out of people. I'm excited because I really loved MTG when I used to play it and this just seems to bring in everything into a great atmosphere with the ability to do a ton more interesting/cool stuff due to it's ditigal nature.

The guy did make some obvious mistakes (imo) , and obv the product isn't polished yet, but it WILL be, and like poker people making mistakes is what drives the competitive scene. It's just going to be another fun game with a ton of depth that is very competitive, if that's not your thing the PVE section could STILL bring a lot of enjoyment to you, but regardless from what i've seen I have very very high hopes this game will keep everyone entertained for a longggg time and should be really sick

When he is was talking about that it was like they were getting ready to reveal some big stretch goals but then they ended up not revealing anything. As far as some of the other goals, like the 10 more dungeons, I'd be surprised if it made it in at launch. Beta starts in 4 months, its unknown how long the beta will last until launch.

The twitch stream basically just showed everyone how the client worked and revealed some more of the mechanics. Since it was by far their best day and the Pro Players sold out that night most people watching liked what they saw.

I encourage those who aren't sure about how much they'll enjoy a TCG to give drafting a handful of tries. I know they had that little article about what drafting is but I'll give my two cents as to why I think it's awesome.

First of all, you don't need to invest in cards to be competitive. I'm not sure what the Hex economy will be like, but in MTG cards have been reaching the $50+ price range in standard. That's $200 for a playset and the most competitive decks may have several of the most expensive cards in the format.

On to actually drafting. There are 3 phases of drafting, and thus three primary skills needed to be a good drafter.

1) Drafting the cards
2) Building your deck
3) Playing your deck

In constructed play, you usually only need #3. You can argue for #2 but more often than not there will be a handful of decks that are top tier and 95% of the competitive players will be running those decks with only minor changes involved.

Every draft is different. You'll develop favorite archetypes for each set/block but if you try to force your colors every draft your deck will suffer. If you love green/black but aren't seeing a lot of green, the guy on your right or the guy next to him is probably in green, and you'll be getting the second choice cards. You need to keep track of your creature vs spell count, your mana curve, what your deck is lacking, etc. Did you crack an off color bomb in pack 3? Can your deck afford to splash a few resources to play it? Does the set have mana fixing that will allow you to play it? Just some examples of the complexities of the drafting process and what makes it fun.

Then you need to build your deck. Hopefully this is easy because you drafted well and most of your choices are obvious. But sometimes when you draft really well you have an abundance of playable cards. And then there will be the drafts where you end up with some 4 color mess that's a total POS and you need to somehow scrape something together.

And finally you have to be able to pilot your deck successfully.

Just what I think makes drafting a ton of fun. I stopped playing constructed MTG after high school but whenever I was home for winter break my buddies and I would always go draft. The entertainment value for the $10-12 ($7 in Hex?) you spend is so good. Though we would always do 6 man drafts with teams of 3. Haven't done many 8-mans.

Decided to grab 2 Grand Kings (in addition to my Pro Player)


Also Grand King is running low. 113 according to kickstarter.


My plan is to combine pro player + 1 grand king, keep the other grand king separate.

Seems like you lose too much value losing all those PvE bonuses by combining 2 grand kings into 1 account. I wish I had done 1 grand king + 3 pro players in hindsight. Oh well.
