Ahh, yeah maybe they are just blanket sending them out to account owners now. I think they must be close to open beta.

Got into this the last wave. I really like it and I couldn't get into any other MOBAs. Been playing as Tyrael, any thoughts on him? Seems pretty strong, but what do I know.

Tyrael is strong and not that hard to play. Plenty of other good heroes though. Most games are still decided by people going AFK though. Very annoying.

yeah I'm noticing this more and more

I've also been enjoying Tassador and (to a lesser extent) Valla. Valla seems like she should be insane but I can't quite get her to do as much damage as I can with Tyrael or Tassador.

Tassadar is probably one of the strongest heroes at the moment. Valla is cool but squishy. If you like Valla then try Nova. Both have amazing ultimates. I like Stitches. Especially using hook or gorge to pull enemies into towers.

I like malfurion.

Why is tassadar so strong? I don't really like the hero that much and hate that I can't place the walls in any direction I want but only around myself.

Re: Heroes of the Storm (Blizzard MOBA, now beta signups)

Tassadar psionic storm and his shielding are very powerful. He can push lanes easily and the storm can always hit two buildings at the same time. In team fights his shields make a big difference and a lot of people underestimate the damage they take from walking through storm. I never use his wall ultimate because you can't easily control directions but take archon. Even oracle is a great early warning on maps that fight over a single objective or when there is a stealth on the other team.

Only problem is mana which is why Tassadar/Malfurion is a great combo. Innervate for mana and storm on rooted heroes/minions.

Yeah that double storm talent just absolutely crushes everything in the late game.

If anyone in here has the patience to teach someone who has ~ no MOBA experience how to not be worthless, get at me I guess.

I'm terrible.

Re: Heroes of the Storm (Blizzard MOBA, now beta signups)

Pick a relatively easy hero like Tyrael. Try to avoid dying at all costs unless you are sure you take an enemy with you. Don't take damage from towers early in the game. Team up for all the objectives. Use practice mode to unlock all talent and get a feel for the hero and the talents.

If you have a hero you like then I might be able to tell you which talents to pick.

If there is a map you have problems with then I can explain some tactics. However if you play with randoms then it depends a lot on who you get matched with. Don't do your own thing because you think it is better when the rest of your team doesn't agree or follow.

Just keep playing, it'll come. I came to this thread desperate for advice a while back as I was just losing every game for my team when I first started.

I improved my game sense by playing healers and focused on assisting teammates. As a healer you are almost entirely focused on helping other players and being there for every team fight so it's a bit easier to go with the flow of the game. Learn where the map objectives are and hit them at the right time. Respond to pings. etc.

Played like 12 hours of this and not really loving it. I feel playing in solo queue is worse then other moba's, but I could see 5's being really good.

I just got an invite to the technical alpha. Is it time to grind this to become pro e-athlete???

Solo queuing will improve a lot when they get to beta in January and add a lot more people. Right now there is just not enough players to do proper matchmaking. All the improvements they announced at blizzcon means that with enough players you will eventually end up with players close to your own skill and all the afk'ers will end up playing against each other.

I think this is due to a number of reasons.

1) The most obvious reason is that there just aren't that many people in the tech alpha yet. So it's hard to match people up properly. Plus, I have a suspicion that they just threw together some semi-working MMR system.

2) Since you pick your character before you're matched up and the system just uses some loose rules for forming teams (I believe it's no more than 2 supports and no more than 2 specialists), you can get godawful comps. I've been on a 5 assassin team before, and the worst I've seen was a 2 support, 2 specialist, 1 warrior team. It wasn't even supports with DPS, we had almost the lowest DPS comp possible given the matchmaking rules. So even if all of the players are similar in skill, too many games are determined by the comp you're given compared to your opponents.

3) You can't carry as hard in HotS as you can in other MOBAs, so having a single idiot on your team can easily cost you the game, even if the rest of your team is better skilled than the opposing team. I've played multiple games where one guy just decides he wants to lane all game, so we're forced to 4v5 for every objective. Sometimes we even manage to hold our own for the entire early game, but at some point, we'll usually lose out just due to the number disadvantage.

Yeah, it really does. And now it's attached to hero level rather than account level. Yay.

Ya this part is what makes solo queue much less enjoyable.

If you spent money on something, you should get the gold refunded back to battlenet bucks.

And you should have gotten a rainbow billy goat mount.
