To address the whole 'OMG ITS PAY 2 WIN WELL DONE SONY GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK' malarky... Huge yawn. People knew there were going to be airdrops in the game, and apparently Sony said there wouldn't be guns in them (or maybe they didn't, IDK). Well it turns out there is a CHANCE for weapons to spawn in the airdrops. There is a bug that the airdrops are dropping too close to the player who calls it in.
The way it's supposed to work is when a player calls in an airdrop, it lands in a large radius around that player. Everyone can see the airdrop coming, and naturally everyone will go and try to fight for that airdrop. The person who buys the airdrop doesn't [shouldn't] always get it... In fact I would be surprised if he gets it more often than not. If it's anything like the airdrop mechanic in Rust, it's really difficult to be the guy that makes it out with the airdrop loot, because it's a giant ****show trying to get in and get out with the loot in one piece. I'm pretty sure that's what Sony is trying to do here - make it an event. Anyway, say you do manage to get the airdrop, and you got lucky and there was BOTH a weapon and ammunition for that weapon type. Well then yeah, you paid money, and now you got a gun. Did you win the game? Not really. Like I said in the last post I had no problems finding weapons, and I still got ranover by a Jeep, mauled by zombies, bled out by a ****in wolf that moved at light speed, and could have easily died to one of the crazy bow and arrow wielding dudes that shoot on sight... Or plenty of other ways to die in the game. You really aren't expected to live very long (at this stage in development anyway). It's not the end of the world, and I don't think it's that bad of a model for a free to play game. Like sure, you could deposit 100 bucks, and just constantly spawn airdrops until you got one, and it had a gun in it - but now what? There are now tons of airdrops in circulation on the server, and there will be many more people armed than you, who will most likely kill you just as fast as you will them. If that's considered pay to win then... idk.

Now with all that being said - we're going to be making some big changes to them in the next day or so.
1) Dramatically widening the radius they come in - it's too small from what we're observing. 2) Making sure the chance for guns is a much lower chance so they are much more rare. 3) Upping the minimum number of people on a server to even allow air drops. It's set at 50 right now and we're going to at least double it. We are serious about these being server events and contested. 4) Making the plane fly even slower.
So yeah... I find it hilarious that people are completely freaking out on Reddit over the issue. Most without a complete clue as to how the air drop mechanic works. Hilarious, but unsurprising.
If I was in charge at Sony, and I obviously should be... The only way people could get air drop tickets would be to get them from events that have paid entry... That way you are paying for the chance to win an airdrop, but your skill in the event earned you that prize... But whatever, it's not the end of the world and people saying this kills the game for them are huge babies.
...And I'm not planning on buying an airdrop like ever, for the reasons listed above. It's ******ed, and too short lived even if you do 'win'.
