1) E-sports is A LOT different now then it was when GW1 was launched. The ability for a game to succeed now is a lot better if done right. There is a large community behind it.
Perhaps, but I found in GW1 that something interesting happened. While the game was built from the ground up as a PvP game, most players saw it as a typical MMO (like WoW) and played it as such. So even though the company tried to make it an e-sport, it failed for this reason. It isn't like SC2 in which the game as viewed as an e-sport upon release...GW2 has to build up a community in order to be an e-sport.

True, but you will find that the majority of players will almost certainly be PvE players which makes the imcome come mostly from them by default. Again I could be horribly wrong...but I am just stating what happened in GW1.
I had a chance to finally play it for quite a bit this weekend. Its everything I expected and even more. Of course, the game is still very "work in progress" and I wouldnt expect it to come out earlier than November. The scale of the game just blew me away, it looks stunning and I have never seen such a big and well crafted world. I really loved the combat also, very dynamic. Some of the quests seemed rather boring though and just a slightly different version of "kill ten rats", dynamic events - I really loved and havent experienced anything negative. WvW battles was the most fun I had in a long time in any game, it can get rather frustrating with a bad, unorganized team though. As far as profession and skill balance goes, I cant really say anything, because I never get into that, thats why I failed miserably in structured pvp. About the esport aspect, I have to agree with DreamMaster, of course ArenaNet says one, but not having a spectator mode, shows how seriously they really are about it.

There is a spectator mode, just not in the beta for people to use. They have done a few special tournies over the last few months, and shown the mode though.
Not trying to champion the esports side of the game here, just trying to inform I suppose. Time will tell, and the community needs to obv embrace it.
I think you can kinda tell how good a game will be for you by the reaction you have to in game moments like that. The instant I saw the dragon I got all bumped up. I was like "ZOMG, IT HAS STARTED!!!" really did feel like the first time I started playing video games. cannot wait for this thing to launch.
I heard it was awesome, wish they would actually implement that game mode for pvp. The Shatterer also made an appearance at the end:
I was thinking the same thing. It was like a zombie apocalypse!

It only lasted 40 mins and took me a while to figure out what the **** was going on. Everybody was waiting at the start of the zone with an arenanet guy and they made a big group which I joined. I was like why are my group members were trying to kill me? Loved every minute of it though. Wish I had been frapsing.
The internet video game reviewing community is a JOKE. It's either GW2 is the best game EVER (no explanation why)! Or it's GW2 is ****, but OMG TERA IS BEST GAME EVER! (again no explanation)
Negative comments are straight up being deleted by mods on the /r/guildwars2 page. I mean, ffs.
We were very pleased with how our servers performed during our second Beta Weekend Event, but we want to gather additional data on how they operate under load before the next one.
That’s where you come in.
All players who have pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 are invited to participate in our upcoming stress test. This four-hour test event will run on Wednesday, June 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PDT (GMT-7).
We won’t wipe characters for this event, so if you played in our previous betas, you can pick up right where you left off. All we need you to do is log in and have fun—leave the stress to us!
