You can download and play the Marathon trilogy on Windows now for free.
myth and myth 2: soulblighter are my fav games OAT. Incredibly ahead of their time especially the multiplayer.

Another one was Singularity. I don't even know anyone else who played that, but it was really fun.

I talked about Singularity in one of the reviews threads - bought and played it for the first time a few years ago and quite enjoyed it.

Oh yeah I think I had Myth 2, that game was really cool, I think it was too hard for me. A couple of RTS/4x games I loved on PC that were maybe overlooked were Dominus (now free/abandonware if you can find it, interface doesn't really hold up well though), Seven Kingdoms (a sequel exists on Steam, I think someone on 2p2 gave it to me, alas it is only for Windows - the original also still exists apparently), and Ascendancy (available on iOS, another one with a hard interface to enjoy if you're a modern gamer).

I hadn't ever played it but fired it up to see what it was about. Wow, the controls are awful.

Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, Falcon 3.0 and A10 Cuba! were some great flight sim games growing up, haven't played one in 20 years though, they all look either way too arcadey or way too pro simulator.

One of my favorite games of all time is a rather unknown game called " die Fugger 2" it is the predecessor to "Europa 1400 - the guild". Not sure if it has ever been released in any language but German.
If it has and you can get your hands on it its worth giving it a shot.

I've got so many but here's a few.

Darius Gaiden - Arcade, Saturn, PS1

Shmup. All the enemies are ships based on underwater animals. Music and atmosphere is awesome.

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours - Arcade, PS4, Vita, Steam

Latest version in the series. Same awesome gameplay, music and atmosphere and heaps of content. Steam version has support for playing across 2 monitors in arcade mode.

Firemen 1 and 2 - SNES, PS1

It's pretty much what it looks like, you're a firemen and you go around putting out fires. It's an Ikari warriors type shooter with different types of fire or fire related enemies. It has a lot of charm and a full blow story with optional side missions. First game came out on SNES, second on PS1.

Panic Restaurant - NES

Platformer. Pretty easy but still a lot of fun.

Sheep, Dog N Wolf - PS1

Cool puzzle game where you play as Ralph and have to figure out how to sneak pass Sam and steel sheep. Some of the puzzles were really well designed and the graphics still look great.

The Adventures of Little Ralph - PS1

Awesome platformer. Still holds up today, tons of variety, great graphics and level design. It was only released in Japan and it's like $300 but it emulates fine.

Shandalar was a lot of fun. Brutal/challenging if you follow self-imposed rules.

i played a fair bit of the guild, fun game. never heard of the predecessor

colonization was probably my fave of all the amiga/dos sid meier titles, massively overshadowed by civ obv

a story-driven adventure game on the amiga called the clue! (i think originally released as der clou!, presumably in germanland) where you plan and carry out robberies

a soccer game called goal! for the amiga. i played the dog **** out of that. still has a tiny cult following i believe

Shandalaar and North v South are great entries.

Pocky and Rocky is great for its time. Beautiful, interesting enemies.

I liked Hi-Octane's soundtrack a lot. It was also the first PS1 game where I realized you could just play it in your cd player.

Man I loved these games as a kid. Probably my favourite Mac classic games along with Shufflepuck Cafe.

These probably wouldn't qualify as "overlooked," exactly, but maybe more "overshadowed" by other games of the same genre.

1) Soldier of Fortune II for PC - I had no idea what it was when I bought on a whim for $5 at Office Depot years ago. One of my favorite FPS games of all time. Really fun single player campaign and I played hours upon hours of online multiplayer. Extremely gory with animations and AI reactions to match. Shoot a player with a shotgun in the stomach and his guts start coming out. Legs can be blown off, etc.

2) Crash Team Racing for PS1 - overshadowed by Mario Kart and other racing games, but this is one helluva game. One of the few video games my wife actually played. Again, single player campaign was actually well done.

3) SSX Tricky for Xbox - just a wonderful snowboard racing game with a fun soundtrack. May have gotten lost amongst the Tony Hawk games.
