Yeah, I've been driving that non-stop too.

Save up money to buy the LM and F1 cars later. They are 3 million+ in the used dealer ship. Don't waste money on random vehicles, just save up so you don't end up grinding for money just to compete in the F1 and German Touring competitions.

That's what I am doing now and it blows.

ok everything runs fine so far (sometimes takes a bit longer than usual to load things) but the top gear track in the special events does not load at all. It just has the silver gt logo and it stays like that, its been 10 mins now...

advice?

Kinda disappointed at the small amount of open races, reached level 8 and apart from the special events and two easy series, every series is car specific

ok now im pissed where the **** are the classic cars for the European and Japanese classic car championship in the beginners section. They are not in the dealerships or the used car dealerships. I look at what the other racers are using and there are like 20 cars that can be used, where on earth are they Ive searched for half an hour.

My copy just arrived over the weekend. I barely have time to play but I went through and won the Sunday cup and got my B license last night.

Ahhhhh reminds me of 2001.

How does the online stuff work? Can you race a friend HU or do you just join a race with randoms?

I ended up checking the used car dealer after every race for a decent 20k-30k credit car that would work for each race.

Endurance races just opened.

Oh, boy.

I'm not sure if I'll grind any poker rest of the year.

I'm not sure you fully understand. NASCAR races CAN'T be fun. I mean, you realize they only turn left right???

But it's soooo hard when the AI is driving basically identical cars and you only have so much time to pass like 6 cars.

according to that post on gamefaqs, crashing and flipping the ferrari enzo upside down gets you a trophy....

Anyone got an idea on where I should go about this?

^ looks like it is any car, the key is to land on your roof and have the game reset you.

i flipped a Chevelle but landed on the wheels again (do damage lol) and kept driving. happened on that last tight 's' before the start/finish on the Forest whatever course.

I did the same thing for the French track. I remember Mid Engine cars being hard to drive on Gran Turismo 1 also I think. I went to mess with the settings to see if that would help and noticed that a bunch of stuff was turned off that was on by default on my previous races.

I think maybe it did that because it was level 7? (was the first one I tried).

It helps a lot. I still need to get the settings better though. I tightened it up way too much and the car slows down a ton when Im making a hard turn but at least I'm not flying off the road anytime someone taps me.

havent bought gt5 yet but was into gt3 bigtime.

id recommend playing without assists as much as possible cause the slowing down you mention wont ever really stop.
its the auto stabilizer that slows you down in order to avoid the car going off track when youre too fast in a corner.
at first that sounds like a good thing. especially when youre new to the game and smash into walls and spin out all the time. once you learn how to get your car through a lap without all that while having assists turned off youll have a whole new racing experience and be faster as well.
in some corners you just have to push it a little bit to get through it as fast as possible. with the stabilizer on it will never let you do that without slowing your car down.

still not sure if im going to buy this game. gt4 prolouge, gt4 and gt5 prolouge were all huge letdowns compared to gt3 imo. i didnt even finish gt4 cause i got bored of it.

the posts itt sound like gt5 isnt that different.

cant edit anymore thus double post

another thing that helped me getting better was switching to the right stick for acceleration and break. push right stick up for acc and down for break. much more precise than the regular buttons.
i guess R2 and L2 would work too with ps3 pads but i dunno if they are as accurately pushable as the stick.

using a good wheel and paddles obviously beats all of these methods but i never bought one and did fine with the stick method.

You can get little clip things for L2 and R2 buttons so you have bigger throttle sensitivity. Alternatively, if you truly wanna enjoy the game and feel like you're racing then use a wheel and pedals.

My flatmate got his copy today, so I will have a go later and start a career! Looks good so far.

You can. That's what I've been doing, but the sensitivity just isn't there. A friend is gonna let me borrow his wheel and pedals... until then, I may try getting used to the triggers.

The last chicane on trail mountain. Thats where I flipped my sileighty. It was on the last lap too and it cost me the race....but totally worth it lol.

You can but you dont' have any throttle control if you do that so exitting corners could be really tricky. On a lot of those medium 3rd gear exit turns you need to be going half throttle on the exit and go full as your car straightens for the straight away.

Same thing with brakes on some of the really tricky corners, especially tight chicanes where you're trying to maintain a very tight range of low speeds, ususally in the low 30s. Sometimes it's a series of corners that require small changes in speed that makes light throttling and braking necessary. In those places though usually you can't pass anyway so as long as you get the last corner before going into a staight away perfect at a high exit velocity you'll be fine.

You can't go higher because you slip but if you go lower, it will cost you big time on the straight away.

The NASCAR race in expert is like that. If you mess up even a little you'll be lagging behind the CPU just a mph or two and lose. Sometimes it's not even you... if the guys immediately in front of you on pole position suck and the front pack pulls away... well, you're screwed.
