Re: Gran Turismo 5

I can't get the game to install on my ps3. Just hangs up and light stops flickering. (i've left it going for 6+ hours twice).

Cleaned the disk etc... No idea what the issue is.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Decided to finally get this as I didn't have any racing games. How do I get most out of this? Do you guys mostly play the challenges and seasonal events and what not or online modes?

Re: Gran Turismo 5

i finally decided to give the licenses a shot - 60 gold trophies aww yeah

Jusbe- I've found the online play to be confusing and laggy, it works great with friends though. WIthout online play you just have to come up with ways to challenge yourself, and accumulating cars is a big part of the fun. If that isn't enough to satisfy you then you'll probably be disappointed in the game. The AI is worthless.

If you can have fun picking out a car and widdling down your lap times at Nurburgring then you'll enjoy GT5, if not then you'll probably get tired of it quickly. The 'game' aspect of it still leaves much to be desired.

Go through the licences and at least bronze everything, then hit up some online/seasonal/etc, just do whatever you enjoy the most.

I agree. And the online/seasonal is a good way to get $$$ to buy more cars. I then use those cars to set personal bests for time trials. Turning a flawless lap is pretty satisfying.

Well done with the licence. 60 Golds is pretty cool.

I still miss a few golds, some of them are pretty hard.

The second one with the cone slalom is driving me nuts. I think i have tryed like 70 times or so.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Thanks

Slalom and brake tests were the worst for me. I think the one I struggled with most was the wet brake test with no ABS in the GTR.

The best part about this game is the depth. When you're just starting in the game and learning the tracks I suggest using the driving line and some of the driving aids. As you gain skill you can make the driving experience as realistic as you'd like. I've done enough laps on Nurburgring that I know every corner. So lately, I've even turned off the map and suggested gear.

Re: Gran Turismo 5

to follow up, on the le mans race, I use the Audi R8 race car with the playstation sponsor and my best driver can win without any help from me. the race pays 3,000,000 plus whatever your multiplier is, for me right now its 4.5 mil per race. Takes about 40 minutes but when you don't have to do any work you can just start it and in a few hours you got 20 mil

Re: Gran Turismo 5

Just replaced my ps3 HD w/ an SSD drive. Hopefully now the damn game will install.

Every other disc based game works fine.

GT5 kept hanging up in the install process (the hd led indicator even stops blinking).. and I left it going numerous times over night for 8+ hours. It was def froze up.

Also I could load a race and play it. But if I went to do another race after that it would pretend to load... go full bar, and never go to the next screen.
